There is no such thing as a stupid question here as long as it pertains to using NewsBin. Newbies feel free to get help getting started or asking questions that may be obvious. Regular users are asked to be gentle.
In the Newsbin data folder contains a list of passwords it'll run through to attempt unrar. I don't believe it works with 7z files yet but that's on my list.
The more passwords in the list, the slower everything will be. It takes significant time to probe.
You probably won't notice under 30 passwords but if you have 100 passwords, it's significantly slower.
Thanks, that's very useful. An idea to keep the passwordlist trimmed. Part of the passwords are for one time use. So it would be nice if I could flag them as such when entering. Then after unpack is ready they can be removed automatically.
Are they NZB's with embedded passwords? NZB's with passwords, their passwords won't get added to the list but will be used when it's time to unrar.
So, I'd suggest only keeping passwords that get used repeatedly in the list.
I'm talking about the 6.91 beta for this. Prior to 6.91, all passwords ended up in the password list. Now the NZB passwords are kept with the downloads.
It assigns a password to the download. If you right click and "Properties" the download. If you should see the password you added listed.
I just tested this in the current beta. I added a password and when I checked properties it showed the password. I did notice it didn't display the password in properties till the download started. I do need to fix that.
