Server Info and Groups Deleted on Shutdown or Restart

Postby TNF » Sun May 05, 2019 7:06 am

I'm currently using version 6.73 on a Windows 10 system, but I was using 6.80 and reinstalled the older version to see if this would correct the issue. I have to enter all information again and load up the groups again as well as changing the settings. It's essentially requiring a clean configuration and the only thing remembered is my registration info. This morning it lost all info merely from the default Windows background picture coming on overnight. Any thoughts as to what might be going on? Much appreciated.

In the options select "Open Data Folder" and see what folder opens up. It sounds like the data folder is "Read Only" so Newsbin can't write the configuration. Newer versions will warn you if the data folder isn't writable.

You are correct sir. How to fix? Located in QuickAccess/appdata/local/newsbin.

I've used Newsbin for years and never had this problem.

I right-clicked on the Newsbin folder and unchecked "read only" / ok, but it defaults back to "read-only".

You can move the data folder around but since you already re-add all the information, you might just want to do a fresh re-install so it defaults to the proper data folder.
