Please re-enable the Ability to Edit Filters In-line

Postby insolution » Fri May 25, 2018 10:45 am

Quade: Please delete this post if you today answered in the "Thinking about -re-doing the filters" post.

I would like to see the ability to edit filters in-line in the filters window added back in.

At some point the ability to edit a line of filters (i.e, the RegEx "womans.weekly|maxim.india|MM.in.English|Steelers.Digest") in the filter editing window disappeared.

If you, like me, use RegEx to add more than one term to a filter line and want to edit, the term "MM.in.English" (as in the above example) I have to edit the line, add it to the filter, then delete the pre-existing line I edited. The old way allowed right-click selection of the filter text/RegEx in-line and rename or edit part of the line. It was MUCH better.

Maybe this has to do with the db engine, but I sure miss it. I use filters extensively and this is a real PIA. I should have mentioned it a yea or more ago when it changed, but...

Thanks for listening/considering.

You can do it in 6.81. It's not ideal because the edit goes to the first column but it seems to work.

In-line editing of filters does not work (as far as I can tell) in 6.81. I am on 6.81RC - Build 5079.

You used to be able to edit the filters in-line by double-clicking the "Accept/Reject" statement, but no longer.

This is a real hassle for those of us that use filters a lot. Now I have to copy the old "Accept/Reject" statement, create a new one, copy the text to the new one, edit it, save it, then remember to delete the old one. Annoying.

The older way of being able to edit the "Accept/Reject" statement inline was far better and much more intuitive.

PLEASE bring that functionality back.

I just test in the 6.82 beta and it works fine as far as I can tell.

It's not double-click it's two slow clicks. Like renaming in explorer.

It sounds like you're not even running the 6.81 release much less the newer beta.

I am running 6.81RC - Build 5079.

The in-line editing does work once I followed your instruction to not to double-click the filter as before, bur rather to use two clicks.

It'd be nice to get it back to the way it was, and allow the edit in-line on the right side in the same plane as the filter itself. More intuitive and cleaner, I think. But, better than none at all.

Thanks,

You're running an older version which isn't the release then.

As for the location of the edit. That seems to be some limitation of control. I don't see it changing.
