Why am i limited to 2000 hits

When I search on subject, how can i get more than 2000 hits?

You can't in one go. You can click the left pointing curly arrow icon on the search toolbar to get the next 2000.

Typically running out of hits suggests you need a more detailed search term, or you could use size or group filtering to only see meaningful results.
