Resetting the downloads

Postby jazzman4x » Mon Nov 27, 2017 6:06 am

NB 6.72 on Win 7 sp 1 x64.

Everything was working fine.

I added a second server and things have gone downhill.

I had fairly high settings (2500) for days to download from new groups. I did not add any new groups, but I guess NB wanted to go back and get headers from the new server for all that history or something (?).

I then set that to 50 in the *.nbi file and restarted NB, but NB is still having trouble starting without hanging.

I did force close NB a few times so the db file(s) may be corrupt (?).

How can I get things working again but keep my signature file? I don't care if I lose the download list; everything else can get cleaned up, I just do want to keep the duplicate detection for all the stuff I've already downloaded though.

I see a Downloads.db3, DownloadsV2.db3, DownloadsV2.db3-journal and DownloadMarker.db3 in the appdata directory; can I delete one of those?

I did look at the wiki, but didn't see anything that helped.
Thanks.

If you already have headers from a decent server, you don't need to download them from any new server you add.

- I'd delete the downloadsV2.db3.
- Clear out the "Import" Folder.
- Start Newsbin then set a 5 day "Download Age"
- Select the groups, right click "Post Storage\Use Download Age".
- Download headers normally. It should only download the past 5 days worth.
