"Incomplete, Missing Information needed for download"

Postby jeffpurser » Sun Oct 07, 2012 4:29 pm

Newsbin Pro 6.40 Build 2059

I recently upgraded to 6.40 from 5.XX and am working thru the learning curve.

A new and recurring problem is with multipart files which display the "Incomplete, Missing Information needed for download" message when headers are first brought in and then stay that way.

Most of my activity is in a.b.teevee.

I use both Usenetserver & Easynews. When I go directly to Easynews' web interface I find that all parts are there and I'm able to dl them without a problem using IE.

In Newsbin, however, the missing parts stay missing even when I refresh the headers (Download the latest group updates).

I found something here about an overlap setting which I set to 500, but it has had no effect.

What am I doing wrong.

Set the download age to "2". Then right click the group and select "Post Storage/Use Download Age".

Then update the group. If they don't become complete, I suspect a server problem.

I'm pretty sure Usenetserver & Easynews are both the same company. I'd suggest signing up for a 3 day giganews trial, then do the same thing over again and see if the files become complete. If they do, then the problem is with your servers. If they don't, the problem might be in Newsbin.

I just tested this with Giganews, downloaded headers for the past two days and everything is complete.

Thanks, Quade.

I think that worked. At least several that were incomplete are now OK, and I have something to try should I have a similar problem in the future.

Newshosting seems to be having header issues. We've been noticing it over the past couple weeks.

I have got this message twice lately and don't know what it means or if it can be fixed. It looks like all the files seem to be there but I don't know what the missing information bit means.

Is there a fix for this?

Did you try what I suggested here?

Files are posted in chunks to the servers. If some of these chunks aren't on the server or if the information about how to download the file is missing some data, you can get this message.

How are you downloading?

I'm not sure how to do your suggestion. Where abouts in Newsbin are the days and refresh option? The two I download other files from this group and they work fine so not sure if that means anything.

I've just manually downloaded NZB's and then loaded them into Newsbin and as soon as I do that it's sitting there in yellow with that message in the pane.

Where are you downloading the NZB's from?

You can email a couple for us to look at to "ts@newsbin.com".

I got one of them to work. Don't ask me how as I don't know why it suddenly did.

If the files show "incomplete" then the problem is probably the NZB itself. That's why I wanted to look at one of them. If you're happy then I guess we can drop it.

I'm still curious how to change the settings you suggested earlier in the topic as I'm not sure where abouts in Newsbin that you do it. Is it in settings somewhere and if so where?

Cheers

What I suggested early on only applies if you're downloading from headers. Since you aren't, I didn't go any further in that direction. NZB's are stand alone blocks of "How to download" information. They're either complete or they aren't. There's nothing in Newsbin you can do to make an incomplete NZB complete.

I'm assuming you're downloading these NZB's outside of Newsbin and not generating NZB's inside Newsbin then downloading them (which seldom makes sense).
