Extra icons on desktop

Hi can anyone please tell me why i keep getting these extra icons

I didn't look at your link but what I suspect is that you saved the NBI files to the desktop and now Newsbin is using a mechanism to make the saving of the NBI more robust so, you're seeing the backup files.

1 - Make a backup copy of the Newsbin.nbi file.

2 - Start Newsbin.

3 - File/Save As - pick a folder that's not your desktop. Maybe someplace in the C:\User\<Name>\ tree. It's got to be some place you user can write to.

4 - Exit Newsbin.

5 - Move the NBI and Bak files someplace else.

6 - Start Newsbin and check that it's got your configuration. Ensure that the files don't show up on the desktop.

Essentially it's not a good idea to have the NBI file on the desktop.
