Version 6.70 Beta 4 Available...

Postby dexter » Fri Jan 29, 2016 1:58 pm

Version 6.70 Beta 4 is ready for some more eyes on it. Anyone interested in being in front of the curve and always having access to the latest versions before they show up here are welcome to lurk on our IRC channel. Once you are in, PM me for access. I'm there a Dexter and Quade is there as "MasterKwan". We and a slew of friends in our inner sanctum are also available to help diagnose problems or troubleshoot potential bugs. We are at irc.newsbin.com in the #newsbin channel.

Here are the changes for 6.70 Beta 4:

  • Fixed issue where column sorting in the files list makes them vanish.
  • Changes to how dynamic download path is determined in order to fix issues $(SEARCH) and $(FILENAME) path variables.
  • Added logic to make writes to the .nbi file and the rar passwords file more robust.
  • Fixed issue where unrar wasn't generating empty folders that were specified inside the RAR set.
  • Fixed issue where PAR only sets weren't clearing the download list even when files are perfect.
  • Unraring a file now applies 2 timestamps to the extracted files. "Created" is the date of download. "Date" is the date of the file inside the rar.
  • Fixed issue where RAR and Repair progress bars weren't using different colors.
  • Fixed issue where "Assemble Incompletes" wasn't kicking in when it should.
  • Fixed issue where NZB Files are using "Placeholder" for the group when queued using drag and drop.
  • Fixed the "Time to Finish Current Downloads" counter in the Status Bar at the bottom of the Newsbin window.
  • Fixed issue where the LoadSpecial function wasn't respecting the max age setting.
  • Made change the password manager. Hitting enter is like clicking "Add New" instead of "Ok".
  • Fixed issue processing uuencoded posts.
  • Made changes to better handle split rar/par sets, where the par files are posted separately from the rar files.
  • Re-write of the Watch List Scan window. Comes up when you click the "Test Watch" button.

The download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page. Any questions, comments, or bug reports can be made by replying to this thread or by using the Technical Support Contact Form.

No repro here. I hit Ctrl-T to toggle it then exited and restarted and when I loaded the group back up it was showing my new setting.

Perhaps you mean "Age" from the filter bar? Someone else reported that "Age" wasn't saving.

Does Ctrl-t work for both of you? It still doesn't for me. I can toggle the file age using Settings/Advanced tab but not by Ctrl-t.

Dont know if allready mentioned: Since the 6.70 Betas the posts filtered by Day filters do not update automaticly

I leave my DL System 24/7 online - I have Day filters set to 1-3 Days to show in the groups I have opened but after some time I can see Posts older than that until I change the filter setup from 1 to 3 days and back - then the filtered posts are OK (Age is like in the Setup) - before they did update automaticly - I noticed this since the 6.70 Betas not shure If this was in the older Versions

Any Help ?

I don't know of any mechanism that would have updated that automatically in the old versions. It wasn't designed to. It would only update when you did something that regenerated the display. Normally the display will just sit there idle till you tell it to do something.

I'll dig around and see what I can see.

Hi Quade

thx for taking care of my issues - what I mean is not an update of the filter itself but of the postings shown in the group - in the older Versions the age of the postings in the group were always according to the filter set for the group - now the posting header stay visible in the group window until I change the filter setting from lets say 1 Day to 3 Days and back - then I only have the 1 Day old postings visible in the group.

Thomas

ps: seems to me the filter is not active when the header DLS during the day ads new headers - it seems to be active only when I manualy change the filter seetings

Been getting this error message on last beta build when trying to read a txt file from one of the groups.

"[14:57:05] ERROR DecodeBlockNoHeaders: Unrecognized encoding format. Trying oddball ones. Spot and Raw"

Never seen this one before.

It's because they aren't files. It's telling you it's not finding any file data.

It shouldn't be an error though. I changed it to a debug message.

Thanks.

Newsbin still opens the text file, and it is readable.

It's text. It's not an encoded file. Newsbin tries to find file data in every chunk that downloads from the server. If it can't find a file, you'd see this message. The message itself will on show up as a debug message next beta.

The difference between text and a file is the difference between an email and an email attachment. Posts with files in them are like emails with attachments. In this case the thing you're Ctrl-Ring is just an email with no file attachment. That's what it's noting.

I've been seeing an issue in the last couple of betas where you "delete all posts from poster" then change the filter or filter date and the posts can reappear. They usually seem to eventually actually be killed but can still be seen like ghosts rather than zombies. This isn't an issue when you delete posts, only "from poster".

Yeah, it's on my list.

They're being deleted from disk but not from memory.

I have tried to use the find feature while in the FILES tab and it does not seem to find either a file or a subject line. It used to search the subject line, but now nothing. I would like to be able to use it again and would like NB to consider being able to search the file names too.

Sort by status sort of works, but not completely. There are still items not together with the same status. Also, could you please prioritize poster filtered before subject reject. That is, if a item is both poster filtered and subject rejected, sort it by status with poster filtered and mark it as poster filtered.

Thanks.

Changes to how dynamic download path is determined in order to fix issues $(SEARCH) and $(FILENAME) path variables.

Does this change affect substitution of $(NZBFILE) in download path? I'm getting different results in Beta4. Beta3 was ok.

In B4, it seems that NZBFile is stripping the NZB filename down a bit too much (not just removing the extension). It's already fixed in B5 which isn't up yet.

I installed Newsbin on a different system and Ctrl-t works there. It still doesn't work on my main system so I looked through the "customize keyboard" area to see if Ctrl-t was changed - didn't see anything. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem of working on one system but not another?

I've look for Ctrl-t in the .nbi - no luck. Will the Ctrl-t setting be buried in the .nbi or in a different file.

It could be in workspace.xml too. Deleting it will reset the display and any keyboard shortcuts. Make sure you delete it after Newsbin exits.

I corrected the problem by editing workspace.xml. I changed <Shortcut Id="8041" Key="Ctrl+T"/> to <Shortcut Id="8069" Key="Ctrl+T"/> to match the workspace.xml on the 2nd system. Where do the "Shortcut Id=" numbers come from.

Are you sure you're running b5? This was one of the fixes between B4 and B5.

I ran both of your samples through B5's NZB Cleaner and it's not stripping at the wrong place.

I ran both of them through my NZB cleaner here and the both cut right at the extension.

It's fixed now so, I guess it's all good. It'll be in the next beta. I was pretty sure it was in B5...
