PM me an example. I'll check it out. Don't post it here.

same here - I've downloaded files just fine with older version; came home, tried to download on 6.6 and had them put in Failed Files. Since I KNEW a couple were safe, I downloaded them anyway - bypassed filter - and they were fine.

I have an example to look at. Normally what happens is a file is posted that lies about what kind of file it is. I'll be checking it out. Thanks.

I've seen the error "Download Failed: File is spam or not really a file" when it is actually valid. Typically there are RAR's inside. I didn't see the filter to enable/disable this.

Large RAR inside rar is considered spam. Small rar inside larger rars isn't. What percentage of the total size is the inside RAR?

Not sure. Next time it happens I'll check. I've also seen failures where the Error field is blank.

You can just hit Ctrl-Y to force the download through if you want to check the files. I'd probably let a rar or two download then look inside.

Any comment on why sometimes when an error occurs the Error field in the Failed Files tab is blank? Lately I've only seen a few of these.

I suspect it's some other error like "File already on disk" or something.

Then shouldn't it indicate that? The Error field is blank.

I've been looking at this issue and the problem seem to happen when file contents don't match the extension. For example the other day I saw a file that has a ".flv" extension but it was actually an MP4. The solution seems to be to ignore the extension and just look at file contents. I have a test version of that working. Not sure it'll make 6.61. It might though.

Suddenly I can't download anything!! I just installed 6.61--same problem. I try to download my regular shows and they show up in Failed with the spam icon. I tried to bypass filters, then I turned off ALL the spam filtering, and the same thing happens. I get a few of the files after multiple tries, but can't get all of them. Isn't there a workaround? I don't have time for this!

There have been numerous posts here about this over the past week. The problems seems to be the news servers. The 6.62 beta is here in the forum. You might want to install it and give it a try. It basically retries much harder than before.

I've been having the same problem with 6.61. My downloads have been rejected right and left. All the rejections are marked as spam. I've tried turning spam detection to off. Nothing changed.

I tried a rejected file on a 6.51 version of newsbin on another computer which I haven't used in awhile. It's downloading just fine. The problem is it fails during the par operation.

It seems that all the rar files, even the few I've been able to download via newsbin 6.61, via a great deal of work, are listed as damaged or incomplete in Quickpar but they show up as completed in Newsbin itself.

I'll try the beta version to see if anything changes. If all the files are somehow coming in as damaged, I kind of doubt it.

It's basically a news server problem. 6.62 simply tries harder before it gives up and auto-assembles.
