Memory Issue - was this resolved?

Postby Tarkus » Tue Sep 01, 2015 8:30 pm

I followed the thread on 6.60 4163 consuming all memory but I did not see any actual fix but rather a bunch of suggestions?

I am experiencing the same issue over the last few days where the memory usage takes over all the available memory resulting in the system freezing.

Has Newsbin determined what the actual problem is? Is it specific to 4163, (never had this issue before this version)?

Suggesting a re-install seems like a short term solution unless there is some confirmation that the conversion of the databases from the previous version to 4163 is the cause then it seems that this problem is only a few weeks from reoccurring.

Run 6.61RC1 and let me know if you still have the problem. You shouldn't.

Yeah please. I just had my version do something weird here so I'm less certain now. I solved on case of it for sure.

Was going to post this for 6.60, so will get .61 and give it a try. As said- first time this has happened.

-- Edit --> Straight download from files, no NZB autoload (can't seem to get Sickbeard to cooperate anymore).

********

Fired up 6.60 build 4163, whitebox AMD 6100 Six core, 3.30Ghz, Win7 Pro.

Placed five file files in download, 1.2-1.7 gig each, one active d/l.

Left to run while working on second computer. After a bit, noticed traffic light on modem solid. Went to maximize NB but mouse wouldn't move.

Indicator on computer showed solid busy. After approximately 12 minutes, able to get pause on NB, and then another few minutes to get box to respond and launch Task Manager. NB was at 5.3G of ram, slowing increasing. Another five minutes, hit 9.6G. Still no transfer indicated on modem, ram passing 11G.

After another several minutes, NB dropped to 230k of ram, busy indicator still solid red, Resource Monitor displayed minimal disk activity, as well as on CPUs.

After another 20 minutes, NB still at 230k ram, indicator red, RM not showing anything unusual. Killed NB process; still doing something. Rebooted computer.

Fired up NB- worked fine. This is only instance of problem.

Still had the five files in DL queue, first one approx 15% into DL.

Other major, non-necessary progs running: Mailwasher(176k ram), Firefox (600k), Lorex (98k), Chrome (53k).

Were you using the bandwidth limiter? Someone reported that turning on the BW limiter causes RAM use to spike.

Since upgrade to 6.61 no memory issues. In fact memory usage in comparable situations has reduced 10-20%.

So far so good.
