Unrar path settings don't work anymore on 6.6

My unrar path settings no longer work. Everything is unraring to C:\Documents\Newsbin regardless of what I have set for an unrar path in options. When I downgrade back to 6.56 they work fine, but doesn't after upgrading to 6.60

Anyone else get this issue?

I just tested it and new files I added to the download list were unraring to the unrar folder I set. 2 issues to watch for:

1 - Only newly added files will get the new unrar path.

2 - Make sure you don't have an unrar path set for the group.

I don't have anything set for groups.

Make sure it has a trailing "\" on it. It should work either way but if you re-check and there's no trailing \ you need to add one.

Oh well. It's working for everyone else. I wonder if you have a path set someplace else?

I am having the same problem.
I "upgraded" to the latest version this morning and newsbin kept trying to unpack to C:\ while the unrar folder was set to Y:\
When I manually give the posts a new unrar path it will, by default, show me Y:\ (as set in the options) and if i click "ok"(without changing the path) it will unrar on Y:\
But it will not do this on itself.

reverting to 6.55, with the same settings, solved the problem.

What's the path actually set to? Just "Y:\"?

Might be worth trying "Y:\UnRAR\". I think unraring to the root is the unusual thing.

If you are trying to unrar to the root path, I can try that here.

I'd go into the options. Select "Open Data Folder" then close Newsbin.

Load the "Newsbin.nbi" file with wordpad (might want to make a copy just in case first). Then search for "C:\" anywhere in the file.

reverences to c:\ were only for:

[SETTINGS]
DataPath=C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Newsbin\
DownloadPath=C:\Newsbin\
[Y:\NZB\] (This is the folder were nzb files are placed if used)
DownloadPath=C:\Newsbin\


For Y:\ :
[AUTORAR]
DecodePath=Y:\Films\$(FILENAME)\
UnRARPath=Y:\Films\$(FILENAME)\
[Y:\NZB\]
UnRARPath=Y\Films\
WatchPath=Y:\NZB\


I see that the unrarpath is missing the : in the file path. I'll try and see what it does when i correct that.

the missing : was the problem.

Still strange that the earlier version (6.55 build 3334) has no problem with the missing :
I tested it again by reverting to the old version and deleted the :

I'm actually surprised this works as a watch list name. Glad you figured it out though.

6.55 simply shouldn't have worked, it's an illegal path name. I'm guessing it found another path and used it instead.

I've used that watch path for a long time now and it has always worked.

6.55 unpacked in the right folder. I agree that it should have had the same problem.
Well the problem is resolved. Maybe others with the same problem could fix it the same way.

Hey guys,

My first post here as Newsbin has been working perfectly for me for the last few years.

Since upgrading to 6.62 B 4358 I'm also getting weird download / extract behaviour.

No matter what I put in any of the paths in the options screen everything downloads, unrars and ends up being extracted into my:

C:\Users\<my username>\Downloads

directory

I've tried the suggestions above, editing my .nbi file, but nothing will get Newsbin to extract and place the downloads into where my previous versions would, which was:

E:\Newsgroups\newsbin download\$(YEAR)$(MONTH)$(DAYS)-$(HOURS)$(MINUTES)-$(FILENAME)\

When I installed the latest version over the top of (I think) v6.56, I did ask the setup to keep my settings.

I've also since fully removed the 6.62 install, wipe out any remnants left in the profile directory and reinstall, setting up afresh. I just can't get it to save my downloads anywhere else except for where Newsbin wants to...

Any other suggestions?
