Version 6.60 Release Candidate 4 Available...

Postby dexter » Fri Jul 10, 2015 1:14 pm

More small fixes. Plan to make this the production release early next week as long as no showstoppers are found.

Changes:

  • Fix issue when using certain windows themes, colors in post lists were not correct.
  • Fixed issue where image files were getting saved as multiple duplicate files.
  • Fixed issue with drag select in the Files tab.
  • Fixed issue where large poster lockout lists were slow to load on startup.
  • Fixed issue with the grid line setting.
  • Improved column sorting on the Status column for Search results. Still not perfect but better than it was.

There's a horrible memory leak in this version and the one before. I launched NB660RC4 to download a few small NZBs. Normally I let NB run all the time. I noticed this for the first time a couple of days ago when I noticed NB was taking up more than 4GB . Today I see the same thing happening. In just five minutes NB's memory usage has gone up from 2.2 to 2.5GB. The program is idle, no downloads running at all.

I just exited the program and restarted it again. It's happening immediately. The program uses 35MB at startup and is now taking up more and more memory without doing anything. No downloads at all yet in less than a minute it's already using up 250MB. Memory usage keeps increasing at a steady rate.

I'm not doubting you but it's not happening here. Mine's using 122 megs after some downloads and it's stable.

Do you ever download header or are you NZB Only?

If you're NZB Only,

1 - I'd go into options, select "Open Data Folder".
2 - Delete downloaded.db3., downloads.db3., downloadv2.db3.
3 - Restart and see what happens.

If that doesn't fix it, I'd repeat and move/delete all the DB3's into a different folder and try again. I might delete the "Import" folder too.

I've deleted those files and restarted the program for the third time and it's still constantly consuming memory even though the program hasn't downloaded a single file or header.

Might be re-install time then. Did you delete the "Import" folder to?

You can delete most files in the data folder. I'd leave the NBI file and DLL's there but most everything else can be deleted including the folders. Might be worth cleaning all that out. Make sure you exit first.

If this 32 bit or 64 bit?

I didn't delete the Import folder but it was empty anyway.

I'll probably go for a reinstall...

Got an issue with RC4
Under wine (I know not supported but it normally works)
Download headers works, but does not display any new headers in the window for the GOG.
Tried setting the view to None, instead of hide old, but nothing is shown.
Did a reload from disk for 14 days, nothing.

Reloaded RC3 and it is showing posts from past 48 hours.

Wine set to Win7 64bit. Headers from one provider not changed for past year.
Only using NB to download headers no nzb's.

Got another on RC3, under failed files, I have "Display Update Pending 12069"

EDIT: ok looks like you have really tightened up the Global Profile, which wasn't there in past versions. If I disable the filters I can see the posts, I have had to empty my global profile to get it back to RC3 and before.

A couple of comments about Sorting on Status:

My principal reason for sorting is to eliminate both the poster filtered and subject filtered posts. In the past, one of those was at the top and the other at the bottom. Now, subject filtered is at the top, but poster filtered is somewhere else. If you just fixed this, it would be great. This is a real problem as there are a couple of posters who post thousands of posts and I just want to get rid of them. (A better solution would be that NB just deleted them as it processed them on download by setting an option)

A side issue is the status of a post that is both poster and subject filtered, my vote would be to sort it in the poster filtered group, now they seem to end up in subject filtered. The same for partial posts, those too should go with poster filtered, or otherwise subject filtered.)

Secondary, it would be great if NB preserved the sorting order from the previous sort when it did the Status sort.

Thanks

If you turn the filters on, they won't be shown at all. It's the green power button.

I looked at the filter option and could not see how to filter out "Poster or Subject" What would be the option and where would it go?

Also, is there a way to just filter for them and not show the good stuff? Then delete them? Then I could get rid of all that junk from the database.

You're saying it's already showing filtered. You just need to enable the filters with the green power button.
