1 - Down where it says "cache" on the status bar do you see a number in parens? Something like "(51)"

2 - Where it shows two file sizes in the status bar, the first one is the data folder, the second is the download folder, do they both show a decent amount of space?

Yes...it says (0)...never paid attention to that before, because I never had to...

Not sure where you are referring to...sorry

I would include a picture of my screen, but I cannot seem to do attachments, and I do not have anywhere to post a pic...

What group are you downloading headers from?

If you look at the bottom of the Newsbin window. The same line "Cache" is one, one segment to the Left of "Cache" it shows you how much free space you have in the Data folder and the Download Folder.

Do you see headers download in the download list? I'm wondering if your account has lapsed with your news server.

Just checked my provider--paid through September 2015

I show 181Gb available

They do show up in the list, but move out pretty quickly. It has even updated the number of new headers each time, but when I click on the group, it shows posts for, maybe 1/8th of a second, then disappear (pretty much just a blink)...

I am not sure what group I am checking should matter...but, one is a.b.sounds.music

I AM able to manually search and download files...

In the options select "Open Data Folder". Then exit Newsbin. Then rename or delete "Filters.db3" then restart Newsbin. What you're describing is that you have a filter of some kind hiding the headers you've downloaded.

Sorry, same result. Filters.db3 repopulated (32kb), but headers still will not download. I even tried downloading older posts again...same result.

You said they showed up, then went away. That tells me you probably have a filter set and they're being filtered out. Not sure what to tell you at this point other then maybe you need to re-install from scratch. I'm assuming you're not getting any errors in the logging tab.

I'm going completely by what you told me. If you see the headers at all and they then vanish, it's one issue. If you don't even see them load or download, it's something else. I can't actually see what's happening when you load so, I can only guess.

It literally is so fast (a blink), so it is impossible to tell exactly what is happening, whether it be actual headers showing or just a blink of "whatever". When I try to load, say, last 100,000, it doesn't even do that...

Pick a.b.sounds.music group, right click it and "Download Special/Download all Headers". Then watch it. I did that using giganews and watched 2.2 million headers download. You should see it actually progressing. It took a couple minutes to download on my high speed connection. If it just blips in and out, the headers aren't downloading.

a.b.sounds.music is a pretty dead group. Low traffic and not much posted in the past couple days. 4 posts in the past 13 days.

You might try the same thing for a.b.sounds.mp3.full_albums and see what you see. It's an active group.

In the options, what is the "Storage Age" set to? If it's less than 30, you probably want at least 30.

You should be looking at the logging tab for errors. I'm not convinced anything is downloading.

OK, here is the latest report:

As I reported last night, I loaded an older version and encountered the same issue...but, I did not reboot last night. After starting up my computer this morning, all the headers showed up as they should. I decided to go ahead and update to 6.60 RC2 since it was brand new, and I thought it might not have this issue. WRONG...same issue happening again. Is there any way I can post a pic of my screen to see if there is some setting that is awry?

UPDATE: I just reloaded 6.56, and my headers show up just fine! And that was without even rebooting! Sounds like I am a good test case for a very specific issue with 6.60! lol

You're the only one reporting it and we don't actually know what the issue is. I think we're stuck unless you can figure something out. Make sure you don't have "Hide Old" set when you load the groups. In the post list, there's a green power button. If you click it it'll toggle the filters on and off. I'd disable the filters for now.

If you go into the search tab, set it for "internet" and search, does anything show up?

Not trying to be sarcastic or anything, but you can rest assured that I am not inventing the issue...lol

I understand that I said that it must be a very specific issue with 6.60, but that of course does not conclude that the issue isn't compatibility for some reason...when I get ready to try upgrading again, I will check out the things you just mentioned, but if my current settings allow the posts to show, wouldn't it stand to reason that they would show when upgrading, UNLESS the current settings aren't being accepted, and/or the defaults are different?
