Version 6.60 Release Candidate 1 Available...

Postby dexter » Mon Jun 15, 2015 10:42 am

We are now entering the Release Candidate phase. This means we are in a feature freeze and only showstopper bugs (like crashes or major flaws in functionality) will be fixed. The changes since B15 are mostly cleanup things.

Changes of note are:

  • New option under the Help menu called "Search Control Panel" will put you directly into the Newsbin Control Panel as long as Newsbin is registered.
  • Fixed a memory leak issue
  • Speed improvements to header processing
  • Re-enabled drag-select function

You can see the full list on the Newsbin Beta Page and click on the "Changes in this Version" tab. The download link is there as well

Any questions or issues, either reply to this thread or contact us through the Newsbin Contact Page

NOTE: ClamAV and Panda Antivirus programs are throwing a false positive on the installer. We will be in contact with them to get this resolved. The exe is clean according to 20 other antivirus packages.

Can .nzb.gz extension be added to the Load NZB option so it shows both .nzb and .nzb.gz files?

Also, thanks for the explanation of the Pause in the download list! Could some feedback be given other than the download speed will drop to 0. The Global Pause switches from Running to a red Paused indicator but the Download Pause looks like nothing has happened, probably why I thought nothing had, it was on a download that could be paused!

The icon for each file changes to the pause icon.

Tried to change the background color of old posts green with white font, old posts remained grey with black font. Changed new posts and the background color changed. Also, it seems the post under the cursor changes to grey. As i move the cursor, the line under it becomes grey. Not sure it used to do that.

Starting with RC1, the the blue "Idle/Old" icon is being used to indicate that posts have been downloaded, instead of the green "Downloaded" icon. Is this an intentional change, or an oops?

Also, is there a trick or setting which I've overlooked that will hide the display of ALL downloaded posts in the posts tabs? I've really been hoping that this would be one of the features added to Version 6.60.

I still see the regular "downloaded" icon. Wonder if this suggests your "DownloadMarker.db3" is damaged? It contains the "downloaded" indicator now. (also old for NZB and Search downloads).

I don't think you can hide "downloaded". You can select and "Shift-Delete" them.

Could you state the "Folder Name" rules for "Download to Folder." Is it now where the cursor is placed? It used to be the folder was named for the first file name in the group.

Running the sqlite3 command

Code: Select all
sqlite3 DownloadMarker.db3 "VACUUM;"

didn't resolve the issue, but deleting the DownloadMarker.db3 file did. At least on an ongoing basis. All of the posts that were downloaded before I deleted that file continue to be displayed as idle/old with the blue icon.

Thank you.

sqlite3 DownloadMarker.db3 "pragma integrity_check;"

Would probably tell you whether it's damaged of not.

The Find function in the (Downloaded) Files Tab isn't working. At least not for me and my installation of Newsbin 6.60 RC1 with Windows 10 64-bit.

I added 20 sets to the download list, typed in "Yu" then enter and the ones that matched were selected.

Is it beeping at you?

It's not beeping at me. It plays the Windows 10 Windows Background.wav file instead of selecting the matching files.

And the 'Find' function in the Downloads tab does work. It's the 'Find' function in the 'Files' tab (where downloaded files are listed) that isn't working.
