Filtering in Newsbin (avoiding spam)

What is the meaning of the stop sign ? Will the header automatically deleted ?
To avoid spam i set a filter to some groups (reject subject contains) and i think some of them are rejectet and some of them are showing up with the stop-sign.

If you want things you're filtering to be removed from the display, the filters need to be enabled for that tab. The enable filter button is the green power button. The position of the button depends on the version.

You're talking headers and not search right?

Yes, I`m talking about header. There is a power button, a red one (6.60B15). This is the filter enable button ? Mouse over shows no description.

Edit: Header with subject like "Free An0nYm0uS Usenet ..." and so on should be deleted immediately.

Filters don't delete anything. They just hide it. In B15 it should probably be the 7th button from the left. The fact you see a red X suggests you're using a search tab and not a post listing.

When I mouse over it it says "Enable Disable Filters".

Hm, don`t know what is wrong...

Load a group up. The button I'm talking about is in the window where the posts are displayed.

Ok, the button is there an working , filter for these groups is enabled, and seems to be working. Sometimes header are shown with status "subject rejected".
I don`t want to see that filtered header, for me i think they should be deleted immediatly and not compacted to database.

Filters have nothing to do with what goes into the database. Like I said earlier. They just hide things. They don't delete anything. By the time you see lines in the display, the data is already in the database.

Ah, ok. What i want is to permantly delete that spam headers.

Right click "Delete all posts by poster" does deletes. Maybe you should make a filter that only shows the spam, select it all and hit "Shift-Delete" to delete it.

With "delete all post by poster" i did this before. Too much work for some groups , espacially after downloading all headers. I`ll try it with your suggestion.

You know in many groups there are high numbers of spam posts but the actual size on disk to track them all is pretty small. Meaning you might be better off just filtering them out and ignoring them. A single 800 meg file download take up more space then 1000's of spam posts.
