couple of issues

Postby Smoker » Sat Mar 21, 2015 4:44 pm

So I am running 6.6084 b3788

This is the first update in a couple of months for me so I was surprised when my downloads are dated the same as the posting.
Not the usual behavior and I went looking for the option to change it back (to dating the downloaded file with the download date/time).

I found something in AUTORAR Options called "Use internal RAR timestamps. Unchecked uses today's date"
So I unchecked that option, restarted NB and downloaded a file.
Still no happiness, the downloaded file is still dated with the post date and not the download date.

How do I get back the old behavior ?

Second issue is that the "Files List" tab never has any listings.
If memory serves, it lists the downloads.
I am not seeing anything anymore.

Thoughts ?

Forgot to reply. Then it drifted into the past and became invisible. I'll read it and get back to you.

In the options select "Open Data Folder" exit Newsbin and delete "Downloaded.db3". This should fix the files list.

I saw this but was waiting until I could test your bug report before responding, then I forgot about it. Sorry about that.

Anyways, it does look like that feature got broken along the way. I just tested with B8 which is due to be released today and it is still broken. Quade will get it fixed for the next beta.

As for files not showing up in the Files tab, you could have a damaged database file. Do this:

1) Click the Options menu at the top of the Newsbin screen
2) Click the "Settings" option
3) Click the "Open Data Folder" button
4) Close Newsbin
5) Delete the file "downloaded.db3" from the window that opened in #3 above
6) Start Newsbin again
7) Download a file and see if it shows up now.

yes the .db file was dated 02/06/2015, so something happened that day.

I removed it and now the files list tab is updating again

Thank You

You can see both timestamps by enabling the "Created" time as well as "Last Modified" in explorer. Even with Newsbin setting the timestamps to the rar internal timestamp, both are available in explorer.

as a VERY temporary work around yes I suppose that is true

But for the long term I would like to get back the functionality of days gone by.
Going into explorer and finding downloads from today is not easy with that work around.

Will the old functionality be brought back ?

I already fixed it but, that doesn't help you now and won't help you in the soon to be released B8.

I'll just have to wait for the fix.

I am not using explorer so your work around although nice are not going to help me.

Thanks for the explanation.

Quade got the fix into Beta 8. We are holding off on the forum release for another day for testing. It's on IRC right now if you really need it.
