Thumbnails and Read Posts not working

I had a system crash some time back and lost Thumbnails and Read Posts. I don't get any thumbnails displayed, and Read Posts doesn't open posts in Notepad as it used to.

I have done a complete reinstall of WIndows 7, default programs are set as indicated (e.g. text files opened by Notepad. The only thing not reset was the Newsbin directories (which are on a separate drive from the system drive. Read Posts go into the Read Posts directory, and I am able to open them manually.

I asked about this some time back, and it was suggested that I check default programs, etc. I do have Kaspersky installed, but I have no problems accessing the downloaded files (pics, movies, audio...) via Windows Explorer.

None of this is a catastrophic deal breaker, but it would be nice to get these things working again.

I am using Newsbin Pro 6.54: 00 FE 5A 8E F7 9A

Windows 7 SP1
Core i7 -4770K @ 3.50 GHz, 32 GB RAM
