Watch For/Search For String with Period

Postby TBlack » Sun Oct 05, 2014 10:00 am

Trying out Watch Topics, it seems the Search For entry cannot handle a . (Period) in the string, i.e. the difference between "Word" or 'Word." or ".Word" Many Headers have .'s in the Subject Title and I use it to Search on Headers sometimes.

Thanks

[.] - escapes the period makes it "literal period".

Period has a special meaning in regular expressions. It means "Any character". I assume you're doing local watch lists of your headers.

Yes, local Watch List of Headers.

Yep, the braces per your example did the trick.

Thanks!

6.60 is getting a heavy re-work on the watch lists. In fact I'd say improving them will be the primary focus of 6.60.

- Getting watch working with the search engine.

- I've already added "per watch" download and unrar paths.

- Improving duplicate detection so, you only end up with one copy of the same file even if it was posted by different posting groups.

Sounds good.

Think about this. When the user selects Rescan Topic, just do it (or offer a switch). Suggest not making the user have to select "Start Scan" to start the Rescan. Just a thought.
