Read post body not working

My old program X-news would ignore a re:message when it d/l files. NBP does also but it marks the file as a red failed file.
I tried to go into filters and see if it would just reject the re: files.

Now it will not read the re:files at all. How do I restore the Read post body function?

I don't know what you did so, don't really know how to fix it. Maybe undo whatever you did and see what happens.

I don't think filters apply to Read Post Body.

I have the same prob, cant read post body after a clean install of version 6.54 and no luck going back with windows system restore. ???

if i want to read a nfo file i right clik and go to read post body and it wont open up , it thinks for a sec or 2 and then nothing, every thing else works fine, i have win 7-64 bit and all the updates from microsoft. ??

As an experiment, cut it back to 10 connections, restart and try again.

RPB doesn't do retries like normal downloads. It's one shot then fail so, if you're on the edge connection wise, I'm guessing it might not work.

You can look in the "read posts" folders in the data folder and see if the posts are showing up there.

Now 5 connections and no error in log and yes the files are in the read post folder and if i clik them there i can read them.

So the issue then seems to be actually invoking notepad or wordpad to display it. I wonder if your security software is preventing Newsbin from showing it? You might want to check if there's some permission to let Newsbin start other programs.

I have Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security and turn it off, still no luck in reading post body, this is fu......g strange.

I'm only running Avast, which I also have been for quite some time. And it always worked. And I don't think I can "turn off" the checking for TXT files, or at least I haven't found it.

Have suffered from the exact same problem. Just upgraded to 6.55 Final in hopes that it would be solved. No such luck. CTRL R or Right Click Read Post Body, puts the nfo file into the download list and then it just vanishes with no notepad opening.
Notepad is the default program for basic text files and NFOs. Running Nod32 v8. Have tried throwing in Gaming Mode to see if any change, but still doesn't work. Can double click the txt or nfo file and it downloads fine. I can then click on it and read it, but reading the body without downloading (as I have been doing for years) hasn't worked for at least a month. Been driving me nuts.

That is exactly what is happening. I agree that it appears to be a problem with launching Notepad (default for nfo and txt filex), but I don't have any problem launching Notepad, and
it launches fine with the downloaded txt or nfo file, even the one in the read posts folder.

Any thoughts?

Since it's working here. I suspect it's something like security software not letting Newsbin invoke the viewer. Can you invoke the viewer for other things in the files list?

Nope, and disabling Nod32 doesn't change a thing.

Well, the fact you can't invoke from the files list tells me it's a general issue. I don't have a solution to be honest. It just works here. If you want to take it to the next level. Remove nod32, reboot, then try again. Then re-install and see if it keeps working. Newsbin doesn't do anything special when it invokes a file. It says to windows "Run this for me" and then windows decides what to do.
