Version 6.52 Beta 3 Available...

Postby dexter » Wed May 07, 2014 4:31 pm

This version has some bug fixes and more improvements to spam filtering.

  • Changed interface to the spam filter DLL and implemented better filtering. Version will now show as 2.00 in the logging tab at startup.
  • All spam filters are on by default. Any can be overridden by using ctrl-y (or right-click and select Download - Bypass Filters).
  • Fixed issue where some passwords aren't being found in NZB Filenames.
  • Fixed issue when marking old in search tab and from loaded NZB file tab.
  • Fixed some file purging issues. Loaded NZB files now go to the temp folder and get purged after 2 days.
  • Now deletes any non-GZ files from the import folder as part of data folder cleanup.
  • Made changes when feeding an NZB into the autoload folder, now makes sure the load works even if it initially fails

The download link is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

General question regarding time parameters of Watch Topics.

I recently went away for a day or so, shutting off my computer. About a week later I found that a Watch Topic had not been downloaded. Is there any "break" in flow if the computer is shutoff (or Newsbin not running for a period of time) or does the update of Watch Topics just pick up where it left off?

What's your "storage age" set to? I wonder if it's short enough that your new posts got tossed when they were downloaded?

problem I've been having, if somebody posts the file to download then adds the pars in a second post same topic but different filename aka - anything "*.mp4" first post - anything "*.par2" second post, I can add both the file and pars to download in the same folder, but if the file has a error the pars won't download, unless I manually set them to download, after the manually downloaded par downloads, it'll go ahead and fix and extract em okay.
when I select both postings to download it will put the par files ahead of the files to download like it used to, just won't auto start pars.
current beta, just started happening a beta or 2 ago, I ferget exactly when.
when the file and pars are together in the same post listing it has no problems auto downloading the pars

possible bug

Postby OMG2011 » Fri May 23, 2014 2:39 pm

Hi,
I noticed a strange behavior - at least in my installation.
On the search tab, whenever I enter anything in the "Search In Groups/Topics" field and exit that field with the tabulator key, whatever i click next, the program freezes and I have to end the process. I noticed this strange hangups for some versions now, but I never found the time to investigate what causes it. Anyone else with that problem?
Kind regards,

It's a known issue. I think I'll need to re-design the GUI to get rid of it.

My storage age is 400 days.

I must have inadvertently deleted the post. As you said it picks up from the latest header update.

Hi, about 90% I download fails since 6.52B3 with message SPAM: Viral payload, but I can't seem to turn that check off in the spam options?! Please add an option for that since I'd like my own virus scanner to report about viruses as soon as I unpack the files, I just want Newsbin to download it. Second, most of the times the rar's just contains other rar's or zip's so how does it find viral payload anyway?

You can disable it in the options. I'll verify that disable works before the next beta (which I hope will be pretty soon).

The point isn't so much that it's viral or not, it's that you're wasting bandwidth downloading things you can never use.

Thanks. I have this configured in my .nbi (i.e. I only want to be warned about passworded files (inside rars/zips)), but not viral payloads:

[Spam]
FailBadEmail=0
FailContainsEXE=0
FailEncryptedASF=1
FailEncryptedRAR=1
FailEncryptedRARInRAR=1
FailLargeRARInRAR=0
FailZIPInRAR=0

I thought that unrar was built in now?
I just got
Code: Select all
[09:46:32]  ERROR AutoPARPlugin: Autopar Block Counts Indicate good files but, UnRAR FAILED: No UnRAR: <file>

I can put an unrar in my wine folder if needed.

Not quite sure what you are looking for? That message indicates that the built-in unRAR was run and failed for some reason even though the PAR check said the files appeared to all be there and undamaged (or at least agreed with the PAR files).

It is always a good idea to have Quickpar and WinRAR (or an equivalent) available for the edge cases where Newsbin built-in capabilities fail but the free-standing programs can be used successfully.

Hmm I took it at face value:
No UnRAR

The file unrared happily with file roller.
I do have quickpar installed but don't have any archive management stuff under wine.

I'd say it's broken in the beta. It's all or nothing right now.
