How 2 FORCE UN-RAR after Assemble Incompletes

Postby andy » Thu May 22, 2014 1:59 am

...I tried to look this up. Mea doofus.

...Normally the automatic Un-RAR works splendidly (I have it checked or enabled as best I can).
However, some posts seem to complete 100%, or an "Assemble Incompletes" drags it over the finish line. I always go in and manually set all the PAR2 files to download, and verify same. Remember USENET before PAR files? I do. Sometimes the automatic Un-RAR kicks off and works perfectly. Often it does not.
...any way I can FORCE the un-RAR to click in and crank out the info? (mea doofus).

What I do is I have quickpar installed and if Newsbin can't do something with a file set, I double-click one of the par2's and let Quickpar have a go at it. If it then repairs the files, I right click one of the rars on the files list and "Quick UnRAR" which does a normal unrar on the files.

The right click "Quick UnRAR" will unrar as much as it can till it hits an error or finishes. RAR files that are damaged simply can't unrar 100%.

I'd suggest having both WinRAR and Quickpar installed for weird cases that you have to repair by hand.

I do have WinRAR and Quickpar installed, and will invoke them as you suggest whenever I get stalled. Thanks!
