Storage.DB3-xxxxxxxxxxx files

Postby Moondawgie » Wed May 07, 2014 2:52 pm

During the process of setting up the automatic backup of my installation of Newsbin Pro (Version 6.52B2 Build 3191) to an external USB drive, i came across a number of files in the Spool_V6\<newsgroup> folders bearing the file names of Storage.DB3-xxxxxxxxxxx. (Real example: "Storage.db3-mjA9631897C")

Each of the files is of a different size, but all are less than 1KB.

The last modified dates range from October 18, 2013 to April 14, 2014 (I use NB Pro every day, and install the beta versions a day or two after they are made available).

What is the purpose of these files?

Are they evidence of a problem?

Can they be deleted without causing any problems, or should they be left alone?

Thank you.
MS Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit I- ASUS P8Z77-V LE; Intel i7-3770K 3.5 GHz; 16.0GB DDR3; 600/20 Mbps cable internet.

They're just junk at this point. What they represent are temporary files used when Newsbin has to feed both the storage and storagedata at the same time. Each on of those left overs suggests and error feeding headers into the DB.

You can delete them.
