6.51 Build 3159

Postby orygun » Fri Mar 07, 2014 3:33 am

Just installed 6.51 Build 3159 today, up from 651RC2.

Previously, in Posts, if I R/C and drop to Save to Custom List, and select the only List (named HOLD), NB sends the item(s) to HOLD.

I have mapped the '5' key to "Save to Custom List" and when I hit '5' and up pops the window (Save Posts To....), and I select the only drop down named list.. and it saves.

However, under this release (6.51 Build 3159) a warning pops up, stating, "Add Group Failed: The group name you're attempting to create already exists."

I noticed if I use the menu, POSTS, then to Save Files to Custom List, all are listed as "Dummy", even the one I've set up as HOLD.

Are you using English language or some other?

It sounds like something isn't right about the install. I'm thinking it has to do with the language.dll. If it is a language problem Dex and I'll have to get together and fix it.

The issue is that it's not letting you add a new Custom list if one already exists. This was to fix a bug where it would fail to feed custom data if it was going to a topic named the same as the custom list item.

I've made a change to permit a "new" custom list that has the same name as an existing one but, still won't let you use a name for a topic or group so, it should solve this for you and maintain the bug fix. I hope.

Thanks.

I was allowed to add files to an existing name via the right-click menu and standard menus but not through an User Mapped keystroke path.

Would that be different?

I don't know. I never tried a mapped keystroke.

Your error message suggests that the issue was trying to add new with the same name as an existing custom list. That I know didn't work but, will now.

You might find you have to re-map it too.

Ok, I gave it a shot and deleted the key mapping and the custom list folder, exited, then restarted NB, added a new custom list and a new key map, saved, exited and restarted NB.

Same thing error, except now I am limited to only one avenue of saving posts to the custom list, instead of 2 of the 3 prior to attempting this.

Previously, three existed: (1)- Right-Click on file and save to custom list, (2)- key mapping, (3)- via the menu, Posts, Save Files to Custom Lists.

Now, only the first (1) remains. The other two cause the warning to pop up.

Again, this ain't a deal breaker.. I can live with it for ...ten or fifteen mintues :)

Re: 6.51 Final Release ...

Postby orygun » Tue Mar 18, 2014 1:15 am

Installed 6.51 Final release.

6.51: 00 57 D7 80 EA 56

Same problem as before. Unable to use Assigned Key or Posts/Save Files to Custom List without encountering "Add Group Failed: The group name you're attempting to create already exists."

Works in right-click avenue only.

So what changed since you last told me it was fixed in your last PM to me?

Did you reinstall Newsbin? The link I sent you was a test, it is not the same build that is officially on the site. Build 3162 has the fix for your issue in it. Look a the top of the Newsbin screen in the title bar and make sure it is build 3162. If it isn't refer to the PM I sent you with the link to the test version I sent you.

Try this.

1 - Go into the customization window, the one you assign the shortcuts in.
2 - Under "Keyboard" select "Posts".
3 - Select the 3rd "Save Files to Custom List" then assign it your shortcut key.

This will make that shortcut feed the first custom list item. The 4th one will feed the 2nd custom list and so on. Basically there's an offset of 2.

The issue is that the custom lists in the right click are generated on the fly and the main menu doesn't know the custom list names.

Yeah, I'd taken the lastest release, which was numbered lower than the previous one you sent.

Went back to it. Works fine.

Thanks.

Just thinking about this, I think I'm going to hook shortcuts directly to the custom list. Ctrl-1 for the first custom list, Ctrl-2 for the second and so on.

You need to check whether you have activated the Scheduler. That may be what stops a pause from finishing as it takes precedence.
