NZB Read Failed

Postby mauikochi55 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 3:30 pm

[08:26:53] HIGH NZB Read Failed: Trying Gzip: C:\NZB\Test.nzb
[08:26:53] HIGH NZB Read Failed: Not GZIP: C:\NZB\Test.nzb
[08:27:08] HIGH NZB Read Failed: Trying Gzip: C:\NZB\Test.nzb
[08:27:08] HIGH NZB Read Failed: Not GZIP: C:\NZB\Test.nzb
[08:27:08] ERROR NZB File Load Failed: C:\NZB\Test.nzb

No matter what nzb file I download, newbin pro cannot open the file. Tried renaming the file and still no luck.
Disabled firewalls and antivirus programs but no luck.
I have verified that the nzb file is valid by downloading on another computer.
Any ideas?

What version are you using?

What happens if you try downloading to another folder and opening from there?

How about emailing the NZB to ts@newsbin.com.

Using Newsbin Pro 6.50-Build 3126
I've tried moving to another folder as well.
It doesn't matter what NZB I download, they all fail with the same log messages.

NZB loading works fine...for everyone else. That's why I want to see what you're trying to load.

Most people who download with Newsbin use NZB Files. It gets exercised all the time, every day. So far, you're the only person reporting this so, until I get more reports, I assume it's only you at this point.

Actually I do have an idea. Exit Newsbin, right click the shortcut that starts it and select "Run as Administrator" then try to load the NZB. I'll bet Newsbin can't write to the data folder and that's why it's not working.

Have you tried installing newsbin on this other PC and tried NZBs there?

Strange. I just tried a few more and some work and some don't. Tried the exact same NZBs on another computer and they went through fine.
Is there any firewall-like settings that would cause this or any logs that I could log into?
I have tried right-clicking and selecting "Run As Administrator" but still no luck.

Something's missing. If you're saying you download an nzb, you've verified it's valid (how?), the same one consistently fails on the primary computer with the error message you've quoted, but it downloads fine on another computer, plus on top of that some nzb download just fine....well, something's missing. Either your primary computer can't load or parse the file, or the download is being stopped (which gives another error or message such as duplicate match).

Here's a question :any chance your autodownload nzb folder is set to your download folder?

Thanks for the reply guys!
Found the issue was with the web browser...for some odd reason.
Don't trust Internet Explorer so I've been using Chrome for a while now. Last night, I downloaded Firefox and tried downloading the file again. Noticed that the file downloaded through FireFox was a little larger than that of Chrome's download.
Can't seem to figure out what it is about Chrome that's causing the issue. So far I've only narrowed it down to NZBs files through Chrome that don't quite come out right here and there. All other file types download just fine.
Thanks again!

Want to email one of these bad NZB's to me? I'd like to look at it.

Maybe it's something I can fix on my end.

It wasn't a bad NZB. It was something to do with Chrome that wouldn't download the NZB correctly. When downloading the exact same NZB from the same source on a different browser, it works fine.
Thanks again.

Well, the other poster trouble-shot it down to chrome corrupting the NZB's. How about trying a different browser.

Chrome is my standard browser. I've tried IE 11 and still nothing. Really weird thing is that even the logging shows nothing. I can download NZBs from other sites and it works.

I just updated to 6.51RC2 (from RC1) and problem went away.
