Version 6.51 Release Candidate 2 Available...

Postby dexter » Mon Feb 24, 2014 11:07 am

Very small change this time, to support another form of file encryption.

The download link for 6.51 Release Candidate 2 is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

Also, languages are enabled again. If you are one of our translators, we had to make some minor updates for 6.51. If your language is not 100%, please provide updates and let me know so I can rebuild. You can check the status on the Newsbin Translation Site

I have always run the latest builds of newsbin and just thought I would mention that on my upgrade from rc1 to rc2 as I first opened the program, it crashed right at the MOTD screen that was blank. Running on 8.1.x64. Funny thing was I couldn't shut down newsbin even with task manager. Not being able to get at the logging tab, I cannot explain what occurred.

Rebooted and the program loaded up properly and dl headers automatically as per my settings. Appears to be working properly after closing and restarting program again.

This is a sign that there was something up with your PC. I'm, going to blame security software because it's not normally possible for this to happen (the being unkillable something).

Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

Quade, there has not been an issue since, just thought I would report it in case others may have had the same occurrence. I forgot to mention that I am using one of the latest blue builds so that may have been the problem, not security. I just completed a lot of dl and un-rar'd many smaller files, which may have caused the problem of a not quite stable OS. I can always image back to stable if it occurs again.

Just installed RC2.

On running I received a language dialogue which on OK, caused the UAC to open, on closing that , the language dialogue appeared again. Seemed a little odd.

I'm not sure what a language dialog is. What did it say?

It has been doing that since I made a fix for the installer to act correctly for UAC. It seems to be a bug with NSIS but doesn't impact the operation, just annoying that you have to answer the language dialog question twice.

Thanks Dexter, at least it's a known behaviour.

problem with testing file download
I had a blank download que and all files I tried had 100% completion.

1) Add file to test from NB internet search. Let it finish testing.
2) Delete file from Que
3) Re add same file from search results to download(anyway to speed this process up?)
4) Wait for file to partial download
5) Quit NB
6) Reload and file will start testing again not downloading

Ive repeated the above steps many times. Ive also had the same using a file I tested and the loaded to que from an NZB(loaded through explorer)

It's too late for 6.51. It's going up today. I'll look into this for 6.6 though. 6.6 is going to have a method to directly change a "test" to a "download" so, you don't have to re-add it.

Thanks.
