Files outside screen scope are put in queue?

Postby JuanFusy » Sat Dec 28, 2013 2:48 pm

I just upgrade to the 6.50 build 3126 and somehow something changed.
I normally load all new headers from a group i made, mostly pictures from the a.b humor like groups.
So I Ctrl-G and Ctrl-L, and all the new headers are there.
Then what I normally do is select all the files and hit Enter, and all is downloaded.
Now the majority, and almost always all the files that are not visible are set to queued, to be downloaded.
I don't understand why this is, I didn't change a thing, anybody got an idea what's going on here?

I just saw it stops/fails as soon as I have a header that starts with Re:

Those are typically text comments relating to the original post. They contain no content other than a short text, no binaries, that's always been the case. I'm a little unclear about your specific workflow and what you're describing that is different, but hopefully that explains your experience.

Normally they are, but not always in these humour binaries, often this is a reaction to somebody posting something simular/retouched and there IS in fact a file attached.
Also the size gives away this.
Like I said, Ctrl-G et new headers, Ctrl-L oad them in view, shift-End to select all, and then ENTER to download them.
In my previous version (sorry don't recall what it was) this all worked, and it didn't stop at the Re: headers...

I'm struggling to understand the issue. I know it's a language barrier thing.

1 - You Ctrl-G to download header.

2 - You Ctrl-L to load the group.

3 - You select the first post then shift-end (this moves the cursor to the bottom of the page).

4 - You hit enter.

Then what? They're not all sent to the download list but, they all get marked as being sent to the download list? I'm not sure exactly what the failure mode is.

Correct Quade, the last thing that happens is after I hit the Enter is that the downloads start, until a header is reached with Re:, then the downloads stop and all headers from that point on are marked/queued for download...

How many connections are you using to the server?

PM me the specific group where this happens. I download RE's all the time with no issue so, I suspect it's something particular to the file.

My USP allows me to have 20 connections, and I always have the promised numbers of MBs being 50 to 52Mbit as per my ISP, so that should be okay?

Just did a quick test in the A.B. humour group to see, no problemos ?!?!
There were only a few headers, just a few Re: headers, but now they were 1 - 3 Kb, so everything went well.
I'll check this again the next following days, and if I do get the errors back I will save the lot and let you know.
Otherwise it was just a bad moment for going on to a new version, datewise in this group that is ;)
I know I can alter things to get the 'bad' data back, but I prefer it like this as the last days are hectic here, are probably also over there...

If we don't meet before the 31th, may I take the opportunity to wish the Quade family and NBP co's all the best for 2014 and beyond? Godbless...

Hello Quade, did you see my PM? Did you find anything?
I had a look at my logfile, and it really seems to have todo with Re: headers somehow, or the way they are posted to these groups.
Maybe this has to do with the fact that it's graphic files somehow?
Here's a part of my logfile:

This is telling you there were no files in these posts.

I'll check out your PM again

Correct, that's what I thought too, only thing is now with the newest version it stops there, leaving the rest queued for download.
I sorted on the subject, deleted all the Re:, selected all files, and it worked like a charm.
I'm sure some of the Re: DO contain files.
I've been a lifelong fan of these groups, and quite often people post a graphic file als a reply on another.
This has never stopped or hindered NBP in any way, it there was no file it was skipped, and if there was a file it got dl'd.
Might it be the structure that's out of wack, or (very) different from 'regular' posts that ie contain rar, zip or whatever files?

Hello Quade, I know you are busy working on the next release, but did you find anything on this Re: thing yet?
Or will this behaviour change in the new version?
Thnx, JF.
