6.50 Build 3126

Postby boston65 » Sun Dec 15, 2013 11:41 pm

started having password problems again, the password was in the box before the download, and after download said the password was wrong, but I used the same password to extract it manually.

Keeps popping up my To Many Connections box also, why I don't know, I am not using to many....19 out of 20....

Servers can take a significant time to make a connection ready for re-use after Newsbin closes it, and then decides to re-open it. This can result in this type of error being reported by the server as it thinks there are more connections in use than Newsbin currently has open. I would leave a larger margin between the max allowed and the number configured in Newsbin. The general rules is configure as few connections in Newsbin as you can that manage to max out your download speed.

well you might be right, but Newsleecher & SABnzbd never does it, with the same amount of 19 out of 20...I would have to say that Newsbin is causing the to many connections. Just looking to find why it does it, and Newsbin is doing it....

well took your advice and reduced the connections down to 15, the speed hasn't dropped any, and no errors...Thanks for the tip.....

I'd say it's a design decision that Newsbin retries faster after a lost connection so as to not impact download speed. Given the same situation, I bet the others would show more of a speed drop at those times when connections are dropped. If you put the Logging tab into Debug logging level, you'll probably see a connection error before a reconnect. I don't know enough about the others to know if they show that level of logging detail.

still having same password problems, the password is in the box before the download starts, when it finishes it says Needs Password, I copied the password from the box, and then I extracted it manually...I have screen shot of it.....

All 3 of those downloads failed on passwords even though they were in the Password Box. Is there a limit on how many passwords can be in the box? I have a bout 10 in there...

Are you really running the production release? We made changes to the password stuff during the RC period that covered even more password situations. If you can send us the post subjects and the passwords, we can try them here. It is possible that the password stuff is not 100% yet.

There isn't a physical limit to the number of password but may be a practical limit as processing will slow down the more passwords you have. I have close to 50 and am not having a problem at this point.
