Failed UnRAR, but files were deleted anyway

Postby darkfalz » Mon Nov 25, 2013 7:03 am

I just foolishly set a download of an 11GB file to extract to an external drive I forgot was formatted in FAT32 rather than NTFS

I came back and found extracted it the first 4GB of it, leaving it there, Newsbin seems to have thought this was a successful UnRAR because it deleted all the source files. DOH.

Yeah that's a wierdy. Apparently the unrar code didn't notice and then told me everything was OK. So, I deleted. Not sure what I can do about that though. Basically the RAR lib lied to me.

Is there already code which checks sufficient free space in UnRar destination? If so could have FS detection added.

Odd that UnRar wouldn't throw an exception for something like that.
