Version 6.50 Beta 18 Available...

Postby dexter » Sat Oct 19, 2013 12:20 am

Quick-turn beta release with two changes:
  • Tweaked support of passworded RAR files to handle a couple of different encryption methods found.
  • Fixed issue with installer where the start menu shortcuts weren't getting created.
The download link for Beta 18 is on the Newsbin Beta Page.

Just installed this new version (b18) and the links are now installing agian.

This is using Win7 64 bit.

Thanks,

Hello

Do I have to put the UnRAR Password into the list before I start downloading? I added a download via nzb-file that consists of many files before I had put the password into the list and newsbin aborted it after 1 (?) file with the log saying that it could not find the password.

Now I entered the password before I the loaded the nzb-file and the files are downloading, but when I right-click the download and go to Properties the UnRAR Password field is empty. If it really is checking the password with the first file shouldn't I see it now in the UnRAR Password field?

The whole mechanism has changed.

1 - Add the password up front.

2 - Add the downloads.

3 - Newsbin will figure out which password to use.

The GUI for manual password entry is still there but, doesn't really do anything. I have to decide if a manual override on the password is something I want to continue with or whether I should simply remove it.

Could the program not be reclaiming used memory? Or it could be my config - I'm still at 32 bit.

For the first time since I reduced the high end of virtual memory to 4096 (a very long time ago), I received a message that Windows was automatically increasing the virtual memory. It didn't increase it by much (I think 4396 or something close). I changed the max to 6144.

I'm just posting in case it was a potential problem.

Looks like an issue returned in b17, just check b18 also there. On close and restart Failed Files list is cleared, sort of.

Ok a little extra clue

If the Download Description is prefixed by "+" ie multi-part, they disappear.
Items not prefixed seem to stick.

The RAR in RAR Spam is still getting through - latest spammer - info@actionmovs.

I don't know if it's passworded because with suspect DLs I open the RAR as it is DLing. If there is another RAR I kill the DL.

How about PM'ing me a subject and group? I'll check it out.

I've deleted all headers under that name and there are no new ones now - the spammer has probably moved on to another name. If I find more I will provide the Subject and the Group.

Pretty sure I already fixed it. Same cause as "Rar in RAR" failure.
