Version 6.50 Beta 17 Available...

This one has a few new features and a bunch of bug fixes. NOTE: The installer has some new features as well. A default upgrade install should be fine.

Summary:

• Now supports RAR5 Archives
• Implemented better password support for encrypted RAR sets. Look under Options/RAR Passwords to set.
• Number of changes to the installer that allows you to choose a different GUI layout style or specify a new data folder location (does not move data files).
• Optimizations to handle importing of tons of .gz files more efficiently
• Removed the MB/GB designation for post counts in the add groups dialog
• Implemented periodic save of download list (instead of only saving on exit)

Upgrade install. Win7 32

It erased also existing start menu shortcuts. I'm running it from within the program files folder

I am experiencing the same thing but I get no shortcuts at all. Running Win8.1 and there is nothing on my start screen including all apps screen nor desktop.

Hi there,

I suspect that the spam filter "Fail EXE files and RAR files that contains EXE files" doesn't works correctly, after the update to B17 i'll receive al lot of RAR files containing a EXE file.

I've noticed that almost nothing on GigaNews is complete, much less a blu-ray. Similarly, most movies that have either 10x the usual number of rars or an equal number of pars seem to be malware. The more info in the status column before a movie is tagged for download, the better.

Same under wine, it removed my "start menu" shortcuts, coundn't understand why my launcher wasn't till I checked the shortcut.
I unticked "Create" everything as normal on install.

Not sure I'm following. Are you talking about Post lists or the Download List?

Fix for Password issue.

I looked at both files reported by you guys and have a fix. We'll try to get B18 up with the fix. I don't expect this is the last treaking I'm going to have to do to the password stuff though.

Search Tab and Watch Topics are missing the date/age column. Is there a setting I can modify - like selecting displayed columns?

Also, the watch topics on FROM field, for me at least, still does not appear to be working without a re-scan with the magnifying glass.

You probably shrank the Date column to nothing or moved it off screen. They're still there.

I do have some action items for "From" searching.

Thanks, I "found" the DATE column.

I think the FROM search is pointing to the SUBJECT because I have one where replies addressed to the poster in the Subject are showing up.

Now that Newsbin recognizes WinRar 5.0 is there work to be done with spam filtering? The spammer "Bin@moviezz" with password protected files is not being rejected by the current Beta 17.

I have screen divided horizontally. Three tabs on top, six on bottom.
Before I could slide tabs left & right carefully to change order. Now they won't slide.
Also the rt-click menu is missing on the "Files List" tab, but present on other tabs.
Please restore rar+par data on search tab "status" column; the "Idle/New [1 file}" could just shorten to "f-u" for same meaning and informational content..

2 - If you have the GUI locked, you can't move the tabs.
