Older versions

Postby kfunk » Sat Oct 05, 2013 12:15 pm

I am searching for older versions of Newsbin and I am either missing something obvious or for some reason they are no longer available. If I am missing them, can someone point them out to me?

I recently hard a hard drive failure and the latest release is not to my liking. I don't recall which version I was using before but it was an earlier v6. In the current version their are things I am not able to make the way I like and in using the help system, the examples and screen shots have obviously not been updated so I am not able to figure out how to make changes.

Looks like the old file downloads are missing with the site re-design. I'll mention it to Dex.

Until the older versions reappear then maybe you can tell me how to accomplish what I want. I have downloaded headers and I have locked out some posters as well as filtering out posts below a certain size. The problem is that the filtered posts remain in the listing of posts. The new items that I want to see still show Idle/New in the status column but the filtered posts also show up with a status such telling me they were filtered. They also appear with a read circle to the left of the posted with what appears to be a - sign in it.

If I wanted to see these posts then I would not have filtered them to start with. IN my previous version, this behavior didn't happen. If I locked out a poster, then they no longer showed. I would like to return to this behavior if possible. I did search through the help wiki but didn't find what I wanted.

Left most button on the second row of controls enables the filters. You probably just need to enable them.

I see someone else is looking for the older files too - any idea when they'll be back online?

They are still on the server, just the links are gone. I haven't gotten around to resurrecting that page. If you desperately need an older version, tell me which version you want and I'll give you a direct link.

Thank you, I would like the following:

5.59 64-bit FULL
6.30 64-bit FULL
6.32 64-bit FULL

Thank you, and please links to FULL packages only, as the older partials now stealth load to the latest 6.42 version.

5.59
6.30
6.32

Each one delivers 32 or 64 bit based on the installer detecting the CPU. These all point to the "full" installer in that all the executables are included in the installer. It only hits the website to download files if you choose a language other than English. It still will deliver the correct version in that case.

There isn't much difference between 5.56 and 5.59, mostly bug fixes. I suggest you use 5.59. The link is three posts up.
