Empty group since a lot of weeks

A few weeks ago, I don't have any post on a.b. boneless

Newsbin Pro v6.50b16 says :

[17:14:36] ERROR DownloadRecords - Reports Empty Group:alt.binaries.boneless

It is not a problem only with this version of NB because with other it was same thing.

I tried deleted store posts
purge to display age
delete group et add group and download latest : I get same error message.

I have other groups that work well, problem only with boneless

My server is TweakNews. I wrote to them but theyt did'nt find anything.

1 - In the network options select "Show Server Commands".

2 - "Download Latest" from boneless.

3 - Look in the logging tab.

This says AW has nearly 8 billion posts in Boneless.

You should be seeing the command I listed. If that's all you see it sounds like "show network commands" isn't working. Are you sure you're looking in the logging tab and not in the popup window?

If you're not seeing something like this, you have something else going on.

Basically tweaknews is broken. If you send these two log lines to Tweak that should be enough to convince them it's broken.

I think too that the problem is on the server side.
Up to now they did'nt do anything.
This night I wrote them again and am waiting for their answer.

I was asking myself if it was not a kind of sensure (DMCA request ?) If it is the case, I will change ...

In Newsbin Pro a.b.boneless is empty and it is not possible to see any post but downloading something with a nzb file on boneless works with tweaknews servers.

This isn't DMCA. It looks like their server has problems when the count in the group goes over 2 billion.

Headers and posts are often stored in different places so, showing an empty group but, being able to download the files from the group isn't that unusual.

It's probably decently hard to fix. It means changing from 32 to 64 bit numbers. I had to do it in Newsbin a couple years ago.

You know there are a number of servers out there. Maybe you can use tweaknews as a backup and download headers from Astraweb. They have the fastest headers of any server's I've tried.

Newsbin Search will still work with them too, since we don't get headers from them.

Articles in that groups can still be retrieved, for instance by using nzb's.
We are working on the header issue.

But the problem lasts for a year !!

1 - It's a problem in the server and probably not easy to fix.

2 - Most people don't care about headers anymore so, they might not ever fix it.

I wouldn't wait for them. If you want headers you'll need to get them someplace else.

Sure. On tweaknews in the server options, check "No Header Download". Then add another server and don't check this.

I looked at prices for an other server
but I don't find special price for only headers downloads (or small downloads), so I should have to pay twice for only solve headers problem.

That's completely up to you.

I have two servers and I download files from both at the same time. In cases where one server doesn't have part of the file, the other one might.
