Par2 Instant Crash

Postby Stuart264 » Wed Sep 25, 2013 1:22 pm

Quade

I am having an issue with an instant crashout stemming from an ebook group (a.b.e-book.flood) as a poster there is posting books in zip files with obscured file names that par2 corrects. The issue comes because I have "don't unrar rar files" enabled in that group (well group of groups) to stop me getting a few hundred separate directories in my Unrar directory. Newsbin seems to get about 1/2 way through the list of downloads and instantly crashes without warning.

Can you look at it and see if its replicable?

I've looked at it several times and had no issues downloading. The rar settings don't actually do anything until it's time to unrar so, I'm skeptical that's related to this.

Tell me about your PC. Is it AMD powered?

No, its an Intel i5 processor running Windows 8 x64 and when I tried it earlier it works fine if I don't have disable unrar enabled in the GOG but the moment I turn it on it the files download, autopar starts fixing the file names then newsbin falls over.

The logs don't really show anything of use, last entries are all relating to DEBUG PAR Repair: AddGoodDataFileEx - AddGood File entries, though the par2 repair was still running when it crashed out and I have managed to replicate the same fault about 5 times now.

If you download all the book files and then download the par2 file to fix all the names it seems to work OK.

If the par2 file downloads first it seems to have this crash issue.

Your right, retried it with Pause Pars and download the ones needed for repair enabled and it worked fine

I managed to reproduce it too. I'm looking into it.

Is this bug fixed in b17?

Last mont I reported that NB was crashing while downloading files. As it happens, that was only when I was downloading files from a.b.e-book where a poster is also posting zip files with obscured file names. I don't think the fact we were both getting crashes while downloading files from very similar groups encrypted in the same manner was a coincidence.

I tested files that crashed for me before in B17 and it didn't crash. I believe the issue was related to a new DLL. We've reverted to the old DLL in B17.

The files aren't encrypted. Just renamed.
