Block tweak-news.eu

Postby mojo-chan » Thu Sep 12, 2013 2:51 pm

Hi. Can I somehow block all articles from tweak-news.eu? They spew out nothing but spam.

In the from field or the message-id?

In the message ID. The spammers use many different names and email addresses, but always post from tweak-news.eu.

Currently you can filter out the subject, I'll have to add a new filter and some code to filter the message-id. I'll look into it.

Thanks Quade, much appreciated. Filtering on message ID would kill about 90% of spam in many of the groups I use.

I was testing the filter. It works pretty damned well.

1 - You create a filter called "MessageIdFilter"

2 - You enter into subject-reject, part of the message-id you want to filter.

"tweak[-]news[.]eu" and
"reader[.]easyusenet[.]nl"

are the two I entered.

3 - You can also enter something in "Subject Accept" if you want. For example you could filter to only see:

"jbinup" posts for example.

Out of 18 million posts, it filtered 3 million before they even hit storage.

Currently I'm saving a file that contains all the rejects. For testing. Not sure if it's going to be in there when I release.

This should be in B16.

Sorry for the bump but was this added in B16? I've added the filter and stuff (I think I've done it correctly) then enabled it but posters from tweak and easyusenet.nl still show up...I did already have the headers downloaded which out of about 11 million new I'd guess 10 million were spam.

It takes ages going through nearly every post and deleting all posts from poster, even with a hotkey setup since there are so many random spam poster names

I'm using it every day.

Look in the <Data Folder>\temp\ folder and see if you see any filter files.

I'd verify you're running B16 too and make sure you enabled the filter.

I did already have the headers downloaded which out of about 11 million new I'd guess 10 million were spam.

Not sure what this means but, the filter only applies to newly downloaded headers. It doesn't cleanup the existing stored headers.

Yeah, it's one of those enhancements I didn't think of but, now I can't do without. I'm filtering 1000's of posts a day.

Seems to be working but it is hit or miss, I went through and added a bunch of spammers to the reject filter and it seems to catch legit posts also even though the ID (like Newshosting was being filtered) wasn't in the reject filter.

There is no way to stop it, screw it...who needs headers anyway
