Well, after much trial and error I have found the "work around" solution to my automatic downloading problem. What's amazing is that it was so obvious I didn't consider it.

In the NBI the Group [Watch_List] (which is near or at the end of the NBI) is not being populated. Now, to work around this, once I create a Watch Topic I have to close Newsbin and list the new Topics' search terms under the NBI [Watch_List] group.

All is well for now. I am surprised that with such a major change, especially since you shutoff the ability to revert to prior betas, that a "heads up" was not put forward. Anyway, it was a good exercise that had me rethink my folder organization.

If you think the crashing by my attempting to rollback to B13 & B12 combined with the "can't find empty file" shutoff the functionality of the NBI [Watch_List] group, I hope you will have B15 correct this problem.

B15 changes it but, not sure it fixes it. You might have to use your NBI skills again to get your watch lists back into place for B15. Basically the conversion from using a DB to using the NBI for watch lists doesn't seem to work very well in B14. It's improved in B15.

I'm getting some strange errors in the logging tab while downloading all headers for a group. The errors are all in the form:

[22:02:22] ERROR Unable to Create NZB:[96597]-[FULL]-[#a.b.teevee@EFNet]-[ bla bla]

All I'm doing is downloading headers, nothing else.

It suggests an inability to save some of the headers to disk. Like maybe the group database is corrupt. If you seem to be missing data, I might wipe and re-download the group. If there are no obvious problems. I might bull through. In B15, the DB compaction process will check the integrity of the DB files so, you might try compacting the group with B15 when it comes out.

I had just purged all the headers from the group and was doing a 'download all headers'. I'll see what B15's check of the group says.

I was compacting another group because of very slow deletions from it (real deletions, not mark post read) and stopped it when I read your previous reply figuring I'd wait for B15, but now I'm left with a 67 gig tmp-wal file. Heres what's in the folder:

Code: Select all
09/11/2013  09:30 AM    <DIR>          .
09/11/2013  09:30 AM    <DIR>          ..
09/10/2013  02:13 AM             3,072 Range.db3
09/10/2013  02:13 AM                 0 Range.db3-journal
09/11/2013  08:50 AM     2,851,147,776 Storage.db3
09/11/2013  08:51 AM            32,768 Storage.db3-shm
09/11/2013  08:51 AM                 0 Storage.db3-wal
09/11/2013  09:28 AM       275,824,640 Storage.db3.tmp
09/11/2013  09:18 AM       131,629,056 Storage.db3.tmp-shm
09/11/2013  09:18 AM    67,781,996,952 Storage.db3.tmp-wal
09/11/2013  08:51 AM             8,192 Storage.db3Data.tmp
09/11/2013  08:50 AM     2,415,452,160 StorageData.db3
09/11/2013  08:51 AM            32,768 StorageData.db3-shm
09/11/2013  08:51 AM                 0 StorageData.db3-wa

I've exited NB, is it safe to delete the .tmp files?

Yes safe to delete. It indicates the compaction failed.

I've changed to a different method for compaction. Not sure if it's going to be in B15 or not.

I have set up sevral Watches, all have Headers selected, and have also found rescan seems to be needed

Here is a thought.
I just did a rescan on the Watch Topics folder - No results

A rescan of an individual topic, brings up a File Import window, and I get several results from the past 30 days

OK just noticed something - The default setting for Maximum File SIze is 0KB. I had assumed it was set for "ALL" but could it be rigged as 0KB?

Here's what I think. I think it might be broken in B14 (though it seems to work for me). The translation of the watch lists from the DB3 (where it used to be stored) to the NBI file might be broken. B15 re-does this and might in fact require you to re-add you watch lists (though I can probably help you get them back by editing the NBI file).

B15 is pretty close. Hopefully this morning.
