Download speed drops when downloading from more than one ser

Postby Fumega » Sun Sep 08, 2013 4:59 pm

Hello.

I've been using Newsbin Pro for a few years, and I must say far it's almost perfect :)

Now the issue I'm experiencing: A week ago I added a new server to Newsbin in order to counter incomplete files, but the problem is whenever I try to enable both servers at the same time, the download rate starts dropping randomly and going back up again like this (each vertical grid represents a 30 second interval):

But if I just enable one of them, the random download drop does not happen (notice on the graph that it normalizes after I disable one of them, and then maxes out my connection).

Is there anything I can do to counter it, or is this normal when two or more servers are enabled?

I'm inclined to think it's just a slow server. What version of Newsbin are you using? I'd try setting the new serve to "fill" server if in 6.42 or set it to a higher priority number of using the betas. In that way it's only used when it's needed. How many connections are you using? Sometimes fewer will act better than more.

Hello Quade.

I'm using the 6.42: 00 64 E2 54 D7 FA version, and regarding connections I've set them to 30 for both.

By the way, I've another question for you: Sometimes after downloading a NZB (like I'm doing now), the download disappears from the Downloading Files tab after it has finished downloading... It doesn't show in the Failed Files, only in Files List, but all files are still not merged. At the same time, I notice a huge spike in Disk activity and if I go to the Resource Monitor I see that System is accessing those files, and Newsbin as well, and so I assume it is repairing the files - and it really is, as it just has finished repairing one mkv and the file is completed and in good health :)

The only problem is that in Newsbin there is no indication whatsoever that the file is being repaired (most of the time when the file is being decompressed or repaired, there is an indication of what's going on on the Downloading Files tab (green bar/yellow bar), but in some cases (like the one I said earlier) it does show anything, I just know what's going on if I go to the task manager, and wait until I get any results.

Is there a way I can see the progress?

Regards.

This is pretty pointless. I get full 100 Mbps with 10 connection per server. Good chance you're inducing problems this way.

As for the unraring, I can't say I've ever seen that. I wonder if your virus scanner is scanning the files? 6.42 is pretty close to dead. The current beta is better than 6.42. You might want to give it a try.

Hello again :)

As for the Anti-Virus, I also thought of that, but there was no indication of that on Task Manager.

Now regarding the beta version, do you recommend users installing beta versions? I ask that because I seldom install beta versions, as they may be unstable or have other issues.

Regards.

We're pretty late in the beta process so, it's pretty solid. You can always revert back to 6.42 if you don't like it.
