Mooving Tabs to Top of Pane

Postby andy » Mon Aug 19, 2013 6:57 am

Have two panes, one on top of the other. Top is for Search, Groups List, Thumbnails. Bottom pane shows various file lists: downloading, downloaded OK, screwups.

How can I move tabs back to top (above respective pane) where they used to reside before some crazy Aussie geek tumbled them. And please, for the old guy, I have had no luck with the little death-jumbler moves. Can't even figure out what the little boxes mean...

You have improved the tech support — I can just have it list all my posts, and the answer is usually there! Suree, I can understand how everyone on Elbonia is psychic, but how does it remember the first date where I got confused? Great software. You're welcome in Texas anytime.

Make sure the lock isn't clicked on the toolbar, then click/hold on the tab part of the window you want to move, then drag it to the top. There's an aiming marker, the center part of the marker that looks like a folder, means "add it to the other tabs in this window". Typically I drag it to this folder looking thing and then let the mouse button go.

Thanks, Quade —
When I click and hold a tab there appears a cluster of a cente4r folder symbol with four surrounding it closely, plus, now and then, another folder icon above. The windows flash colors of blue, and it seems I can't get the effect you mention. Likely as not I get thin slices instead of a tabbed pane. My apprehension and terminology may be off the mark. I've don this several dozen tries, an it seems I luck into the original look. Is there a tutorial on this subject?/ Thanks.

I created a video a while ago showing how to arrange the GUI to look more like Version 4. The procedure shown should help you to move the tabs where you want them to go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg2jvnqG2jU

Are you trying to move one or more complete tabs from one pane to the other or the switch the tab from say the bottom of the bottom pane to the top of the bottom pane? If the latter, use "Switch Tab Position" in the "View" menu.
