6.50B13 putting old d/l's in back D/L list after PC crash

Postby drumtrucker » Tue Aug 06, 2013 12:07 am

my PC crashes now and then and afterwards, when I launch NB 6.50B13: 00 43 27 D5 8D D0
it brings any number of recently completed downloads into DL list.
It is not a behavior I have seen before

That's actually to be expected. Newsbin writes out the contents of the download queue when you quit, so if it gets terminated abnormally, this will happen. If for any reason you've already quit newsbin before the crash, then something is interfering with it properly shutting down. Try disabling antivirus if you're running one - they operate on a low enough level it might be behind the crashes, too.

Was it clear that the items appearing were previously completely downloaded and not it the queue. If I remember correctly the d/l queue was completely empty at time of crashes.

Also, once again, I cannot remember ever seeing this happen, certainly not recently, with previous versions.

Basically if your computer is crashing, more or less all bets are off. There's caching going on with the OS, if newsbin was in any way interrupted, or the system crashes, weird shit can happen. It's not exactly a bug that can be tracked down, it's a system issue.
