Repeted download after powerfail

Postby gumtu » Sat Jun 01, 2013 9:37 am

Newsbin Pro 6.50B8 Build 2721

Last night we had a power fail, when I started Newsbin this morning , it took a long while to load the download list which was strange as last night it was empty. After a few minutes NB loaded up >40,000 items in my Wish List and then started to download them. Once i got back control, I paused & then deleted all from Wish List & Download queue. I managed to delete all items & then re-start Newbin. The issue did not repeat, however this has happened twice to me before with this version, the even stranger part is that I didn't recognise some of the files it was starting to download!

Any ideas, should I back-out this version and re-load my previous one

Regards

You can delete the downloads.db3 file to clear it. You know, when the power goes out, there's no telling what state Newsbin will be in when it restarts. There's not much defensive coding I can do to work around having the rug pulled out from under the software.

To speed up download list processing, the newer versions defer cleanup of the downloads.db3 till you exit and restart. Power fail means the exit cleanup didn't happen.
