Any problems with downgrading from 6.50B4 to 6.42?

Postby Moondawgie » Wed Apr 17, 2013 11:09 am

Can I install Newsbin Pro Version 6.42 as a "downgrade" of my installation of Newsbin Pro Version 6.50B4 without any consequence? If so, would I simply perform an installation of Version 6.42 as an update or upgrade to Version 6.50B4?

Ought to be able to. Can't say I've ever done it but, I can't think of a reason it won't work.

I've downgraded after every latest beta - you just have to remove the ''Watch '' folder from the group list. There is also a variation in the number of posts in each group that has been updated eg 6.5 beta 'x' update groups then a.b.xxx posts count 678. Downgrade to 6.42 then update groups and the post count is different -could be higher or lower and it is not because the groups were updated when using 6.5.

The reason I've downgraded after trying every beta is that I have one group that when I try to download several posts from it hangs after one block on the first download. I can download a single post and it works fine but put several posts in the list and it hangs.

I've been getting that frustrated that I even deleted the spool 6 file and all of the db3 files in the data folder in case they were corrupted and done a fresh header download but that one group still hangs if I try several downloads. So I'll stick with 6.42. as when I go back it works straight off the bat.

This is not a criticism but I think that you guys are starting to make the programme too top heavy - after all I only want to a go to a group, download the headers, look for what I want and download it. :D :D Maybe do a ''Lite '' version. :D :D

Seems to me, simply not using the more advanced features keeps it "lite"?
