Status Abbreviation Definitions

Postby Spartacus12 » Fri Mar 01, 2013 5:10 am

Can you give me the definitions of the Status column? This is on the Downloading Files Tab > Status:
I've read some documentation on the wiki but it seems to be for an older version and does not address everything I am seeing in 6.42.

1. [50 files, 9 pars] I am guessing means there are 50 files and 9 PAR files.
2. [PAR: 29463 of 45089] I am guessing it has downloaded everything and is converting the necessary PAR blocks to RAR format? Does this mean it needs 45089 PAR blocks or that is how many I have available?
3. A stuck download has 253.1KB/3.88GB, no doubt it's dead. It reads [PAR:0 of 1476] D:1 DL:0 Inc:0 P:23 R:0 N:6. What do these abbreviations mean? I am guessing (but probably wrong) that D:1 means it downloaded 1 RAR? DL:0 actually sounds MORE like downloaded zero so that would make D meaning downloaded incorrect. So what does D:1 and DL:0 mean?
4. The line continues and says Inc:0 which I assume means zero Incomplete which does not really make sense because if it has no incompletes then it should be moving.
5. Next it says P:23 which I think means 23 PAR files. Correct?
6. R:0 is next. Possibly Retries?
7. N:7 I have no idea what that abbreviation is for and cannot guess anything.

Can you please explain what each of these mean or point me to a place that defines D, DL, Inc, P, R, and N and what [PAR:x of y] means?

Thank you very much.

You've downloaded 29,000 of the require 45,000 blocks. The entire set of files represents 45,089 PAR blocks.

Click the + icon and inspect the files. You'll probably find that the PAR file it tries to download is red. Until that times out, it holds off trying to download the rest of the files. You can manually unpause the other files and see if they start. It's most likely the files have been removed from the server.

4. The line continues and says Inc:0 which I assume means zero Incomplete which does not really make sense because if it has no incompletes then it should be moving.

Having all the data to download the file but, not being able to download the file because the server denies having it is becoming more common these days. So, Newsbin has all the data to download the file so, it's not incomplete but, the server is saying "430 - I don't have that file".

R/N - retries and when the next retry will happen.

Glad this came up - I was just logging in to search for this answer myself.

My follow-up question is, when does the number of retries get specifed for each file line - when it's added, or when it's changed under the Options? (ie - is it specific for each file, or a global number of retries that the program checks when it starts each download?)

I ask because since I switched to 6.42 (Build 2146) on Win7 x64, I'm getting boatloads of this, and the queue completely stalls out (as in 4:30pm yesterday until this morning when I noticed):

[1 files, 0 pars] D:0 DL:1 Inc:0 P:0 R:13 N:1655
[1 files, 0 pars] D:0 DL:1 Inc:0 P:0 R:13 N:1664
[1 files, 0 pars] D:0 DL:1 Inc:0 P:0 R:13 N:1514
[1 files, 0 pars] D:0 DL:1 Inc:0 P:0 R:13 N:1513
[1 files, 0 pars] D:0 DL:1 Inc:0 P:0 R:13 N:1513

The "current progress" bar is red, and the verbose log is 430: after 430:...

AutoPAR is disabled (and there is no PAR/PAR2 file anyway, as you can see)... anything else you can think of? I upgraded from the 5.xx I've been using for years, without changing a boatload of option switches willy-nilly.

Thanks. (and sorry if I'm hijacking this thread - thanks for explaining it, though!)

-Paws

(P.S. Surely the fact it reads like "Doodly Inc0 porn" is mere coincidence... )

Basically you need to delete those files from the list and find something else to download. You server isn't delivering the data for these files. What retries really means these days is "retries till the file is automatically assembled and repair is attempted". In this case, these files probably don't have pars and probably can't be repaired. The logic gets hairy when the files are completely undownloadable which is what looks like is happening here. I suppose the right answer "with no pars and the retries expire, send it to the failed list. i can look into that for 6.50. The heavy use of the DMCA probably means I have to change the logic.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Still not certain what all the abbreviations are exactly, but with the hints you gave it's really not that important. Thanks a million!

[1 files, 0 pars] D:0 DL:1 Inc:0 P:0 R:13 N:1655

[1 files, 0 pars] D:0 DL:1 Inc:0 P:0 R:13 N:1513

[1 files, 0 pars] - this is pretty clear right? Files and PAR files?

D: Downloaded
DL: Downloading
Inc: Incomplete
P: Number of Paused files.
R: retries
N: When the next retry will happen.

Sounds like a good idea as it would clear the download list and allow auto shutdown to kick in.

Is it on the to do list still ?

It's in 6.50B16 and newer.

If there are no pars and the retries expire, the file gets sent to the failed list.
