Problem on the 'search' tab

Postby wngnt » Thu Feb 21, 2013 5:24 pm

While searching on this forum for another issue, I ran across a hint from either Quade or Dexter that said if one chooses to search on (in my case) 'Unsorted' using a blank search parameter, the resulting file list would be the last 24 hours of newest files posted for those in that 'Unsorted' group. I have been using this daily for weeks now until today. It quit working approximately 14 hours ago (age of newest files in list) probably from something I did but have no idea about.

My news server has the posts since I can update the groups in a normal fashion.

Any ideas what I might have done to trigger this?

Thanks,

Laurie

It's working here. Is the source still set to "Internet"?

So it is peculiar to my instal.

Source is set to internet.

I just downloaded the latest group updates and everything is fine there. I receive '00 hour' posts.

I can search for one of those '00 hour' posts and it comes up on the search tab but now the most recent blank search is 15:38 with the same 539 search results.

The only thing I have done in the past few days is set up some 'subject reject' filters to deal with the inevitable porn that shows up where it doesn't belong.

Sounds silly but I shall do a reboot right now...

Laurie

EDIT: Nope - that didn't help.

I DID shutdown last night before all the files in my list had finished but have never had a problem with that before.

EDIT #2: Instead of a blank search on 'Unsorted' I chose 'All Groups' and it worked. I received a list of 4624 '00 hours' and a couple at the bottom of the list of 5 and 15 days.

One more wrinkle - The newest file I get on the search list is now 16:02 old. That puts it at ~ 10:30 last night as it is now 2:34 PM here. I shut down before 10:00 PM last night as I watched the 10:00 news. Hmmmm....

Wrinkle #2 - The posts are gradually working their way OFF the bottom of the list when they reach the 24:00 hour age mark. 534 posts on the list now.

Obviously this isn't a show stopper but it is a great feature that I was using every day.

Re: Problem on the 'search' tab - SOLVED

So I wondered if there was something in one group that was causing a problem so I created a couple of new GOG's and started to blank search on my groups one at a time. There is one group that will not return but 4 posts (but should return at least 1000). The other groups in a different GOG work okay in blank search mode. :D

Laurie

Final Word: Checked that 4 post group and what used to be my go to group for tv shows is now chock full of cr@p. No idea why I never noticed it before now. Tis gone - never to darken my doorstep again. :)

PM me the group. I'll check it out.

You know we don't catalog JPG's right?
