NB v6.41RC2 Re: [*]Fix for retrieving new records during up

Most/all of the groups I monitor are "low traffic groups". I had noticed an apparent decrease in traffic for these groups on Giganews. Doing a "Download latest" after updating to NB v6.41RC2 appears to have filled in the gaps but I can't be sure. Do I need to re-download headers for the last month or so? And if so, can I do that without losing all the older stored headers?

The answer is "I don't know" I'm thinking not but, it can't hurt. One way to do this would be to set a download age of 30, then right click the group "Post Storage/Use Download age" then update the group. That'll make it re-download the last 30 days of these groups. You won't lose anything if you do this.

I looked at a bunch of lesser known groups the other day trouble-shooting and it looks like people have simply stopped posting to them. They went from low traffic to no traffic in the past 15 days.

Did this with a unexpected result --> Newsbin downloaded all headers - not 30 days (I actually used 60 days). I had made a copy of my newsbin folder so I repeated it and ensured I selected "Download Latest" not "Download All Headers". Same results - before oldest header = 169 days, after oldest header = 1581 days.

If there's a failure, the failure mode is to snag everything. Also on smaller groups it just says "fuck it" and pulls all header. Say groups under 1 million posts.

One group reported 3272302 headers and another 2097664. I don't need to do another reset, just wanted to report it just in case. No use going further unless others report have problems.

Those groups are pretty small. I wouldn't be surprised if it just decided to pull them all again.
