It is currently in the fifth hour of loading a set of headers that was downloaded yesterday, so there's no network traffic involved. According to process explorer, it is consuming a steady 25% of CPU time to do so and is engaged in quite a lot of disk activity during that time. I've seen references, in searching the forums, to not having "show file names" and "compact view" checked. As far as I know, I don't have those options checked since I can't find them. The only reference to them in the help wiki is in filters and I'm not using any filters. No errors are in the log. I'm kind of at a loss as to what to look at next. I tried an experiment of loading a group, closing that group and reloading. That went much faster so my guess is that it is doing some sort of one time only database cleanup, or sorting, or something. Any ideas how to tame this? Running under Windows 7 on a 2.4 Ghz quad core machine.
