nbremote 6.41B4 Build2120

Postby spike6479 » Mon Dec 10, 2012 9:04 am

Hi there,

I just downloaded the newest build. I've been working on a remote application and have noticed with this new build that the Loaded Download and Filter MarkOld commands have gotten much slower that the previous version (6.41B2 I believe). Is there something I should be doing differently? I realize this is a minimum amount of information; I can provide more if needed.

Thanks much,
Spike

"Filter Markold" - now waits for the process to finished to return, sending results to the mark old engine. Jonny, the author of NBRemote had reported that "markold" would return before it was done so, you wouldn't always get consistent results.

Not really seeing any code changes to "Loaded Download". It still sends the downloads to a background task without delaying.

Thanks for the prompt response. Is there a way to send a MarkAllOld? I'm currently doing that by sending a mark old for each index, which seems to be taking in excess of 1 second to respond for each index. Can I send a MarkOld without waiting for a response from the previous one; if so how big is the queue?

Thanks again,
Spike

"Filter markallold" should do it. It'll delay too but, should delay less because it's happening in one shot.

Thanks for your help, MarkAllOld did work much better. Is there any new documentation for nbremote?

Keep up the good work,
Spike

I think that's the only new command. Jonny asked for it.

I'm unclear how current the docs are on sourceforge.

I don't mind answering your questions too.

Hi there,

I've noticed another, more serious, problem I have with the latest beta. I asked to download 3 messages; the first one went fine; but the next two caused a bunch that I didn't request to be downloaded. Unfortunately I don't have time right now to dig deeper into this. I'm going to step back to the 6.41B2. When I get some more time I'll try to get you some more details on this.

Also I just noticed that you have a special forum for betas; sorry I didn't post this there.

Thanks,
Spike

I'm losing my files list after a shutdown. If I use a program to shut off the computer meaning I don't close Newsbin first I lose all references to any file. If I shut Newsbin down while it's downloading it also doesn't remember where it left off an starts downloading the files again. This never happened to me before the latest build.

I did switch from Astraweb to Supernews but I doubt that that could be contributing. I didn't see anyone else report this problem.

I would love a keyboard shortcut for that the program.
