Would it be possible to have $(SEARCH) varible

Postby wmoritz » Sun Dec 09, 2012 9:27 pm

It would be nice to have a declared $(SEARCH) so that the C:\Program Files\Newsbin\download\$(GROUP)\$(SEARCH)\. The $(SEARCH) is the 'Only display files that match this filter' text item which makes a nice sub directory name.

Can that get done?

I don't actually understand what you're asking for.

It's a guess but I think he wants to search for something(local or inet), when he finds it and downloads it, it punches in whatever he has in the search field into the path. The problem with this is what to do whenever you aren't doing a search. Just ignore?

I think you're right and ignore is probably the right answer.

Please ignore my request it has too many bad results. It is better to do "x:\Program Files\Newsbin\download\$(GROUP)\Any Pictures\$(SUBJECT)\", note the "any pictures". Sorry...

I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with the idea.

Sometimes I loose control...thanks a lot for you help in any case.

And again, when I pull down the View Menu Item and select 'Search' it would be real handy to create a $(Search) for the 'Main download folder:'
as c:\Program Files\Newsbin\Download\$(DATE)\$(SEARCH)\ .

The purpose is to create a daily download folder under the name search text contained in the box following the x and magnifying glass icon.

I hope that is clear it sure would be great!!!

I'll write a note and look into it.

- Search: Consider a $(SEARCH) expander to use the search string as part of the download path.
