Not to belabor the point but:
"A rose by any other name..." is still a rose.
http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/jpeSome cameras (i.e. Minolta, Sony) create jpeg files with the .jpe extension to indicate a low-res version of a .jpg for emailing or to indicate that the file contains a color profile. Either way a .jpe file still meets the Joint Photographic Engineering Group specification for jpeg files and they are both editable and displayable with the same .jpeg/.jpg codecs, requiring no additions to the operating system. As far as Newsbin is concerned .jpe files can (and should) be treated the same way a .jpeg or .jpg file is recognized for thumbnails. Other application writers who have encountered the same issue usually, eventually fix it so as not to tick off users who are inconvenienced by it. So, thanks in advance.... A loyal Newsbin user.
