Extremely slow header load

Recently upgraded from 6.34 to 6.40. Now instead of taking a few seconds to load the group a.b.erotica it is taking over 10 minutes. I am filtering the results for only 1 day. I tried compacting the database - no change. I deleted my list of spammers - no change. Any other ideas?

Pretty sure the issue is the same as:

viewtopic.php?f=43&t=31128

What seems to be happening is that the spammers have hit some groups with random "From" field spam which is basically DOSing the group to Newsbin.

I spent the day today coding a work around. It'll be in B3. Might give you early access to B3 so, you can test it. I'll talk to Dex about it.
