Build 2059: Files List empty

Postby chaznet » Thu Oct 18, 2012 4:16 am

The Files List as stopped working. It'll hold file info for a couple program starts, and then blanks out and begins with current activity. It used to show file info continuously, file maintenance could be done via the Files List. Is there something can do to get it working like before, or has the functionality changed?

I would suspect that the Downloaded.db3 file in the Newsbin DATA folder has become corrupted. You could simply try deleting it (with Newsbin closed) and let it be recreated again to see if that fixes the issue.

I've not noticed this. On exit the files list is stored in Downloaded.db3. Might be worth wiping it and letting Newsbin re-generate it. I'll look it over and see if I see anything.

Keep in mind it only holds 4000 items before it starts clearing out files.

I've deleted it, hopefully that's it. I'm nowhere near the limit. When it was working I had no more than about 50 files. The files are all still there, they just don't stick around in the File List tab...

Another thing that will make them vanish is if they're moved or renamed. Newsbin checks for the files on restart and clears them from the list if they aren't there any more.

I'm not saying this is your issue. It's just something to factor in.

I know -- that's a great feature. I liked that if I did delete a file, Newsbin reflected that next time I ran it.

Just a FYI -- it's been working fine, just like it used to, ever since I deleted the .db3 file mentioned earlier -- right around 3 weeks now without issue -- thanks!

Build 2122: Files List empty

Postby chaznet » Fri Dec 21, 2012 6:29 am

Another FYI... Recently installed Build 2122, and, my files list disappeared. Not after the initial update, but a couple days after. Hate it when that happens ;-) It's worked without issue until now.

Relatively new system, up-to-date Windows-7 OS. I use a lot of apps, none of which have file-system issues.
