Auto group list DL

Postby Jaffo » Tue Sep 11, 2012 8:11 pm

I have a number of servers I connect to and when I clear out my folders I have noticed with the new RC versions it automatically DL's each servers group list. Can we please have a server option to turn this off? I never use the group list and find this irritating.

I don't actually know what you mean.

If it's downloading headers when you start and you don't want that, just click off the option in the options. It's in the Switches options, near the bottom.

If it's downloading headers from all the servers and you only want to download headers from one, set the servers you don't want to download headers from to Slave.

If you're talking about downloading the list of groups on the server, it doesn't do that unless you ask it to.

If you clarify what you're talking about I can probably figure it out.

Sorry. If I don't already have a list of groups from each of my servers then it automatically downloads one for each of them. OK so I know it's no big deal but in the past it only warned and asked you to DL a list if you went to the "Open group add window".

Ah now I know what you mean. It should be a one time thing. Basically when you initially run a fresh install, it pulls the groups list. It should only ever do it one time. Once the groups.db3 file is in place, it won't do it again.

But why DL for fill servers? Could we not have another tick box in the server options?

It's just a list of groups and every server might have a different list. Typically downloading the groups list is free too, like downloading headers.

Maybe I'm not getting the issue. Don't you want a complete list of every group you have access to? What's new, is that it pulls the list when it needs it. It ALWAYS downloaded the groups list from all active servers.

Like I said it's no big deal leave it as it is. :)
I don't use the group list at all, I always find what I am looking for from the search engine and if for any reason I did want to add a group it would ask me then.
In the past if I had a group list for only one server it would not ask me or force me to DL one for each. This is only a observation like I said no big deal. :D

Got it. I might revisit this in the future.
